razataz
I have a silly question? when you turn off your return pump how many inches does the display tank drop down with that kind of overflow box. The resin I'm asking is my leaking oceonic with the solid overflow box only drops 3/4-1 in. I'm trying to figure out if my sump can handle the extra amount when drained from display. Hope this makes sense.

caferacermike
Plus the way you plumb in your return can also determine how far your tnak drains back. I like to use a rule of 4" x tnak length x tnak width for figuring out how much extra room my sump should have in reserve. The 4" is the maximum amount of return that you could expect in an emergency situation. Generally it should be limited to about 1-2" but I like using 4" just in case.
