Hey guys, you might be able to help me out. I am getting a 165 gallon aquarium and am looking for a way to make random flow the aquarium has two 1” holes drilled into the bottom of the tank and I know their is a fitting with a random flow built in but I can remember what it’s called or should I get a couple of pumps and place them on my apex with random on and off cycles? I can't get growth at all in I'm running 6" 12k on my. 15 gallon tall but every SPS I add to my tank they get bleached, but under my t5ho they do grate, what lighting are you running? And does any one think I could do any thing different?

well I was planing on adding something to produce an algae bloom, but once its all in the tank I should not have any problem with algae.

But I also don't want my girlfriend to have any issues with algae blooms. So I'm thinking getting a bucket and puting the sand in it and adding water and a pump to keep the water movie ing for like 2 weeks or so to build bacteria in the sand, any thoughts?

Well I got my girlfriend a fish tank and she's honing to college so she can only have a 15 gallon fish tank, and I told her to pick out sand to put in the tank, and I want to be able to transfer the fish,rocks,as coral from her current fish tank to the new one but we want to use new sand.

Is their a way to cycle sand with out setting up a hole new tank?

Hahah when I first started reading this I was like wow, I had the same idea about 6 years ago and make a smaller version because I could not afford to build a large scale one. Best of luck to your tank build its an amazing tank, just have to make sure you can get flow too the drop off.

Up date, the tank is doing great, after the cycle was done, I added a few things yesterday. I put the clown goby, the chalice and the blastos back into the tank, that added a few more coral frags. Took a birds nest out of my other fish tank, added two more chalices one is brown but changing color to green, the other one is brown with some orange spots.I also added some zoas, tow are lime green, and one is highlighter yellow. I also got a acropora, and an encrusting kind of coral that is brown.( Hunter knows the name) Birds nest chalice, with some other coral on the top right side. lime green Zoas Acropora full tank shot

It's a filter that was in my bio cube that I moved to the 20 gallon. So it has plants growing on it, and copapods on it too.

I added a old carbon filter, that should jump start the cycle right? I read it in a book just now that adding a old one should work.

ok, every thing is out of the tank and in my 40 gallon tank. once the tank cycles i will put it all back.

I'll take them out in about a week or lees, just so that their is some build up on ammonia, for the cycle to start. that take them out and wait a week that put them back.

well i traded the wrasses for a yellow clown goby, that my girlfriend wanted and than bought 3 frags, a purple chalice with green mouths and some orange.
