so, i called the guy i got the frag from. i emailed pics of the injury. he stated that duncans are very hardy corals and feels confident that it will heal up. he suggested placing in in the sand bed, or on a flat rock to let it heal up. he also said that if it died, or did not make it, he would replace it or refund my monies. so that is super cool. right now i have it sitting on the sand bed and this morning when i left for work, i could see that it was starting to polyp out. it was not fully extended, but i could tell it was making an effort. i'm keeping my fingers crossed, because i really want it to make it.

i posted over at reefcentral, and some guys who have duncans seem to think that gluing it to a frag plug with some gel is the best bet. i'm also worried that it might not survive though. here is a pick of what i received. you can see that it is cracked and the insides are showing !

so, i got this duncan frag off the internet. but it is not mounted and has been freshly cut off the mother colony. how do i mount this ? i'm not familiar with this coral at all and i'm totally unsure of how i should go about adhereing it to some live rock. right now i have it wedged into a piece of rubble, but i'd like something more permanent so those stupid snails and crabs don't knock it off. so , from what i've seen of frags of duncanopsammia axifuga ( whisker coral ) they have a hard tube like structure they grow through. kinda like a dendro or tubastrea. well, my frag doesn't have that tube structure. i think it was lopped off one of those structures. it was probably growing out the side of one, and whoever fragged it, dremel'd it off. so, right now i have a fleshy disk of poly that is slimed over. any ideas? i was thinking of keeping it in a really low flow area and trying to get it mounted much like you would a mushroom or something. with some lace or a panty hose or something? maybe even putting it in a cup to keep the snails away? any ideas would be appreciated.

i have a male leopard wrasse i'd like to find another home for. he is getting too big for my 20 gallon, so it is time to find a bigger home. he eats frozen foods like mysis shrimp. he is an early to rise, early to bed fish. he always goes to sleep around 7:30pm. so, i dont really get to see him much since i work a late shift. i've had him for about 4 months and is around 3.5" - 4" long. i'll try and get a pic of him, but he will probably be asleep by the time i get off work today. I'd like to re-home him this weekend if possible. i have a 20L and currently using 150w MH. i am satisfied with what it can do, but i'm only borrowing the lighting for the time being. i plan on switching to some T5s as soon as i find a good deal on a set of 4x24.

i have a 3 gal pico with rics , anthelia, gsp, xenia , and a pair of sexy shrimp. i also have a 20gallon long with my fu manchu lionfish. i have some montipora caps and some digitata in there as well.

i think 4 weeks is reasonable

i am still interested. i got a couple pumps already, but i one of them is horribly loud. so , i might replace it. what brands and models do you have? i need something to run the skimmer .

I have a brand new, never opened 1gb iPod Shuffle. It is the new clip design. they retail for $79 off the apple website. i'll sell it for $80. no tax, so you are actually saving your self some money. I plan on using the cash to purchase equipment for my new 20L, so maybe a trade can be worked out. you never know.

heya! i'm putting together a 20L and i'm not familiar with small fish that will be able to populate the tank and not be hindered by tank size. i would appreciate any suggestions. i'm ok with aggressive fish, but prefer reef safe. i plan on having softies in the tank, no sps/lps.

i'm trying to set up a 20gal long. i am in need of a pump for the skimmer and the return. if anyone has any used pumps, i would be very interested.

I put together some ideas. What do you guys think? should i actually be doing this? is there enough support for the cards? maybe a poll?

if you're gonna part it out. i would love about 20lbs of rock.

well, i can do a blank template. fill out everything except the name field. print a bunch of blanks, and you can hand em out at the meetings. members can fill in their own names, and get it laminated if they want. i'm thinking standard business card size. maybe a special card for those who make donations? i'm so happy with the support i've got from the members of Austin Reef Club, that i'm willing to donate my services and cover the printing costs for the first batch. then i can supply andrew with the original files if he ever needs to get more printed. here is my website so that you can gauge my skills , if you are interested. www.subcultpop.com

do we want to get some membership cards made? i'm a digital illustrator with access to printing equipment. i could possibly make some card templates and get them printed out. if that seems like a good idea, just let me know, and i will make it happen.

oh, i guess i should have read through the whole thread. i dont really have the time to dedicate to making a record. i'm pretty busy with my day job and then illustrating at night. i was just gonna see if you guys were gonna jam. i dont get to play with other musicians much...
