  1. I've got lots of Xenia in my tank...really looking for some more Zoas. I'm willing to sell it for $30 if you'd like. I had offered it for $40 w/ no takers. Originally paid around $100 and used it for about 10 months. So it would probably need bulbs within a few months of use.

I don't really have many frags to share yet... the only thing that is growing is the pom-pom xenia. If you would take a nice frag of pom-pom xenia, I would love to grab this!
  2. Hi,

Tried to sell or trade this light a while back. It would be good for a backup if you have a 36" tank (46 Bowfront and I believe 58G are that length).

Anyway, I can't use it anymore because both my tanks are 48".

I would like some kind of frag or anything else you might want to offer.

Always a good idea to have a backup in case your primary fixture fails.

    Let me know.

  3. Hi,

I can't see the pix--checking this at work and that site is blocked, but am definitely interested in some Zoas.

If I was to buy more than one, say two of the $30 offerings would you give me a "bulk" discount...say $50, that would be great as I'm just getting my 90G tank going and some additional color would be nice.

    Hi Robb,

I am in for order #2013, 20.24...Michael McDermott

...I would rather pickup @ 183/Lamar area, but whatever the final delivery area is will work for me.

  5. Okay,

How many folks out there have a Niger Trigger in their tank? I have a 90G setup that I would like to put both a Niger Trigger and a Hippo Tang in. I wouldn't classify my tanks as Reef, but they are not FOWLR either as I have soft corals (Xenia, polyps, mushrooms, kenya trees, ricordia and frogspawn) in both. Also, the tank currently houses a couple of damsels, foxface, royal gramma, six line wrasse, a chromis, tomato clown, and maybe 40 or 50 lbs of live rock.

What has been your experience with them? I have heard mostly positive feedback.

Reason I ask is I know they are supposed to be some of the better triggers to put in a community tank, but they are triggers.

I have had first hand experience getting attacked by triggers @ the beach (shallow reef) @ Andersen AFB, Guam. At certain times of year (and I believe it's when they are mating/breeding), they will make a beeline for you when you are snorkeling in their territories. They are very protective and aggressive.....definitely a memorable experience...

anyway, if you have experience and opinions/feedback on this I would appreciate it.

  6. Dustin,

I hit you up @ Maast too. Do you ever get to Austin? I want the Chromis and cardinals. I guess I could come up to Killeen if you don't get down this way. Also, any of the live rock left?

  7. Kevin, I'm going to be honest with you. I try to make sure I'm buying healthy fish from LFS. I buy all my fish from River City here in Austin or from folks on Craigslist and to this point haven't had an issue or a need to Quarantine.

I realize most serious hobbiests probably don't do this, but I saw your last email ref quarantine tank and to me if you already have an established tank and you take the time to check out the fish and make sure he's healthy at the pet store prior to purchasing, no need to quarantine.

That's just my two cents. I've had my tanks running for only a year now and previously didn't have much luck with saltwater fish, but that was prior to learning anything about Live Rock--which just wasn't part of the hobby say 10 years ago when I was in the military, traveling all over the world.

    p.s. I sold you the 36" light....

  8. Sold the dual PC light; still have a single (96w) corallife light (36") with about 10 months of use on the bulb. I think I originally spent around $110 or so for the light. I will take $40 OBO or trade for fish or frags.

  9. I would recommend getting 48" lights, but I guess you could use it. I just bought a decent retrofit kit off of Premiumaquatics.com (if you are using a hood). Check this out--pretty good price...

    ESU-53206 AquaLight 48" 4x65W Compact Retro Kit $139.95

  10. Hi, I've got a couple of 36" Corallife Power Compact Lights.

One comes with a single 96Watt lamp, daylight and atinic. Has about 10 months of use. I would like $40 or will trade for saltwater items (livestock, equip, etc.)

The other is 192Watt with two lights, one daylight and one atinic. Has about 2 months use. I would like $100 or will trade for saltwater items (livestock, equip, etc.)

  11. Hi, I just found this sight. I have been checking out MAAST for several months and didn't realize there was a Reef site for Austin folks. Nice to find out. Have been keeping saltwater aquariums off and on for many years, but have had the most success over the past year when I found out about LIVE ROCK!

Being in the military for 24 years and always moving every 2 to 4 years, wasn't condusive to success in the hobby, but now that I'm retired back home here in Austin, I'm finding a lot more time and success with it.

Anyway, great to find a site for folks in Austin area who are interested in Saltwater and hoping to gain knowledge for keeping up with my 90G and 75G tanks (mostly Fish and Live rock, but a few soft corals as well). And a 55G freshwater tank as well.

    Sincerely,

    Mike McDermott
