  1. Do you have any pictures of the Xenia?

I have a ton of this from the recent live stock purchase from Subsea. It's really pretty stuff...most of it is the Aquacultured white pom pom xenia seen online at Liveaquaria. Looking to sell a bunch of it...say $2/stalk. Will also trade for other things...just let me know what you have. I'll be at River City Saturday around 11:30 and can meet there.

Also have a large kenya tree for $15. Shriveled up it was about 5 inches...and it's got 2 small stalks growing next to it.

  3. I was wanting to buy a Yellow Tang for my tank but I wanted a small one. I noticed that most of the stores in town have only big ones. Does anyone know of a place in town that I can get a small one? Or does anyone have one they want to sell? Please let me know. Thanks.

  4. I got a protein skimmer for my 29gal biocube the other day and it is working good so far. My question is should I leave in the filter cartridge far awhile or is it better to go a head and take it out. If it doesn't matter I would like some feed back on what others might have done. One last thing, I got some hairy mushrooms and noticed that they seem to throw up. Is this normal and it so do I need to be picking the stuff out of the water or will my inverts eat it? Thanks.

  5. Do you have a picture of the stuff? I have a fresh water tank at work so I might be able to use it.

I have a bunch of freshwater misc from cleaning out the attic. Undergravel filters, plants, rocks and those strip lights and tops.

Anyone know if Goodwill takes that type of stuff or a good place for donating??

    Thanks

  6. Do you have any more of the following left?

    3. A few Green Star Polyp frags $5/$10 - This one Brown Paly with two different type - $10

I have a hodge podge of things I'd like to offer.

    1- Doctorfish tang - $15

This little guy is only 3-4" long but in captivity and starting small it could get up to 9" or so. I have had it about 6 months and I don't think it was grown at all, so apparently it grows slowly. It changes colors anywhere between a little green/gray with violet tinge along the fins to dark brown. Active and mildly aggressive.

The first pic is actually a different fish but displays the 'freckles' and typical color more accurately than my picture did.

    2. 24" 65 Watt Coralife Light with Adjustable Mounting Legs - New - $50

    3. A few Green Star Polyp frags $5/$10 - This one Brown Paly with two different type - $10

    4. 30#-40# Live Rock - $2/lb Small pieces- about 10# piece. Little or no coraline but it is live.

    5. 30L DIY Sump - $20 - will take/post pic if there is any interest

  7. My 29 gallon BioCube has been set up for about 2 week now but I started with the cured live rock and live sand. I took the water to be tested on Friday 01/23/09 and it was good to go. I also tested it yesterday myself and the Nitrates and Nitrites are good. It just started coming up this past weekend. I have what I think is a good clean up crew (2 hermit crabs, serpent star fish, snail, and a emerald crab) I also have a clown in there as well. I was reading online that the brown algae can be caused by the tank lights as well. Am I leaving the lights on during the day for to long?

How long has the tank been running for? It sounds like you got your diatom algae bloom, which is a normal part of the cycle of a new SW aquarium. Not a whole lot you can do for it other than give it time. Also, make sure you are keeping a good clean up crew.
  8. I have a 29 gallon BioCube that I have recently started and I am starting to have brown algae grow on the sand and live rock. What can I do to take care of this? Is there anything that I can put in the water? I keep both lights on for about 9 hours a day.

  9. I just got a snail for my tank today and it had a baby starfish on it. Its about as small as a pea and still alive. I was wondering if anyone has experince with them. I didnt know if I should just leave it in the tank free to crawl around or should i try to house it in something. Also what does it eat. I dont have any clue as to what type it is but I do have a video of it that I will be putting on here later. Any ideas?

  10. I just put the water in there on Friday. I have live sand and live rock that has already been cured. The water was already ore mixed from the fish store as well. Does this help? I know I still need to cycle it but do u think I could add dasmiles or clown fish now? Thanks for you input.

GOW LONG HAS YOUR TANK BEEN UP AND RUNNING? AND HAVE YOU TESTED YOUR WATER?
  11. Thanks for getting back to me so soon. What if I have live sand and live rock that has already been cured? Also I bought salt water from the pet store that was already mixed. I know I still have to let it cycle but does this help as far as adding dasmiles or clown fish now? Also what is your take on purple up?

Better to cycle your tank with a piece of shrimp from Whole Foods. No need to put a fish in jeopardy. Once the tank h

fully cycled (usually about 4 weeks) then you can add whatever fish you want. But remember to add fish slowly. One or Two at a time. Otherwise you won't have enough bacteria to support the extra load and you will start a new cycle.

Most corals and anemones need a stable tank. I would wait for about 6 months before adding any. You could probably get away with some soft corals sooner though if that is the route you want to take. Mushrooms and Xenia are pretty hardy and could be added sooner. HTH

  12. What would be a good fish to cycle my tank with? Also, can I place coral and anemones in there now or should I wait? Has anyone used saltwaterfish.com before?

  13. Do you still have it?

I'm selling a piece of LR that is really just a clam mantle. It has plenty of coraline algae on it and on the backside is a nice tube worm and an interesting looking yellow sponge (lower right of the first pic below)

Piece is approx 5-6" across, 3" deep.

Free...just come get it as I don't have room for it in my tank!

I have 2 reddish spiny brittle stars in my tank that have gotten pretty big and creepy. I caught 1 ( with tongs) he is in my sump. still working on the other one. only comes out at nite. freeeee
  15. Hi from South Austin. I just started my 29 gallon BioCube and I don't have any fish for it yet. I spent all the money I had on the live rock, sand, tank and water. If anyone could help out it would be appreciated. I know I need to start my cleaning crew first so anything will help. Thanks for listening.
