  1. Binder clips for sump cable management (clip them to the rim...and flip the arms toward the inside...run the cables up through the loop)

sounds great, but at the risk of another dumb question...are there plastic ones or do you not have to worry about rust because they are high enough out of the water and don't get splashed?

I use standard powdercoated black metal ones, I don't have a ton of sump splash so I am not worried about it...if you are worried...dip them in plastidip first

  2. another handy tip:

After knocking my Tunze wave controller into a half-filled bucked while still plugged in, it started to freak out (leds flickering, not remaining on etc)

I took out all the screws, shook out all the water I could and still the problems persisted.

repeated and placed it in a ziplock bag with dry rice and sealed it up. Left it overnight and works perfectly this morning! (the rice absorbs the moisture in the bag)

Generally I would recommend 24-72 hours just to be sure

yeah.. you'll want to rinse that with fresh water or alcohol to get the salt out before drying it out with rice.

it was RO water... no salt...but valid point

  4. Maybe algaebox-ception (algaebox inside another slightly bigger box) creating a buffered grow-zone.

Like how zoos have not know a fence between you and the bear, but also a moat.

  5. Also, if anyone has an apex or other controller, you can get peristaltic dosing pumps on ebay for about $30 each. Not dirt cheap, but the best I've been able to find.

you can get 12v peristaltic pumps for about $20 shipped from ebay. cheap....er?

  6. For the past 4 years I have been an Application Engineer at a local software company that pays me way too much for the amount of work I actually do. Before that I worked with for an asset disposition company for 3 or so years. Before that AMD for 4 years and prior to that Dell for 4 years. All tech jobs although my 4 partial degrees (child development, instrumentiontation engineering, chemistry, and business management) all have nothing to do with computers

Another (ex)AMDer.. I might have passed you in a hallway at some point... coming up on my 15th year at AMD this June.

    possibly...my sister still works there

  8. serious question:

What would the FMV of a faulted powerstrip be? I want to scavenge the outlets out of it for my controller and a broken one is just as good as a new one to me, but much cheaper (free)

    Value is zero IMO.

I tended to agree (as it is not like you could sell it or anything). I just wanted to get the crowd sourced consensus.
