  1. Im selling a 29G freshwater tank with no stand. its got 4 clown loaches, 2 ropefish (awesome!!), and 6-7 each of columbian tetras and tiger barbs. Its got a penguin biowheel filter and comes with some nice pieces of wood and rocks. Its got a normal lid with a light that works. also comes with 2 airstones... probably some other stuff i have lying around too.

anyone thats looking for a new starter tank or a tank to make a sump with could take this... the fish would bring quite a bit of credit at the LFS (thats what i will be doing if it doesnt sell...

    pm me any q's

  2. yeah, that is a bit more of a project than i am looking to get into right now. im putting a bunch of work into the boat i have right now with hopes that the tpwd will be able to issue me a serial and title and registration and whatnot. gonna have to jump through some hoops but in the mean time its a good ol fashioned row boat!!!

  3. Hey everyone,

as much as i love this hobby and absolutely adore my tank i have a much bigger desire at this point in my life. I want a BOAT!!! not because of the SNL skit either... haha... I grew up fishing and its absolutely one of my passions, but now am stuck on shore... that sucks a lot. thought i would give this a chance. i know its a longshot but who knows.

im looking for something with a title and the whole bit. ive got a boat in my back yard right now with no title and its doing me no good. anyway, here is my setup (and id be willing to throw in some cashola too!!)

45G corner w/stand and lid if needed

    250W metal halide

    red sea prism hob skimmer

    2X koreala 2

    heater

small fan i use to keep it cool

    2 O. Clowns

    1 Flame hawk

    1 lawnmower blenny

1 little purple fish (no idea?!?!_

    1 sea urchin

1 sea cucumber (havent seen him since day 2 though)

    1 coral banded shrimp

1 harlequin shrimp (with one half eaten choc chip star)

ive got a few corals in there too

    some Green star polyps

    i think zoos

    bubble coral.

i dont really know the names of corals because i buy what looks good and dont put much thought into it. if you have anything to offer me i can take some pictures for ya. This is an all or nothing kind of deal. i dont necessarily want to get out of the hobby but am looking for an offer i cannot refuse.

  4. I've got a rather large coral banded shrimp (2-3in) that is getting to be a bit aggressive for my 45g tank. I think he'd be better if there were more room but my clowns keep invading his turf. He's really cool and spends most of the day perched under a rock like spiderman... its rad...

willing to trade for fish or corals or other stuff you might want to get rid of. I could use a sump but it'd have to be small enough to fit.

    ThanX

  5. Hey all,

I got an LTA from aqua dome a few days ago. It seemed to be doing really fine the first couple of days in the spot where i put it, though the clowns wouldn't and haven't taken to it. Then i noticed it had moved to the other side of the tank. I was told that they move around quite a bit and hence didn't do much but stare at it for a while. I had to pull him out of my koralia pumps twice and moved the pumps around a bit until I found a way to not have him get sucked right up into it. Today he looks like he is dying or something. He is about 1/3 the size he was when i got him and some of the tentacles are curling and a brownish color. some still appear to be alive. I gave him a tiny piece of krill which it seemed to enjoy for a bit but he just seems to be motionless.

Anyone have any idea what could be going on? any chance of nurturing something like this back to health? any help is appreciated.

    Thx,

    Eric

  6. Hey guys my tank is running great and so far i have no casualties to report!! I just have a couple of quick questions that are probably simple answers.

Where should my pump placement be? I have a 45g corner and 2 koriala pumps and I just want to know what type of circulation i want. should it just spin circular or should i point them at each other does it even matter?

Also, I've got a couple of tank raised o. clowns that i just added last week. They paired up instantly and are inseparable. They've picked out their spot in the tank and have dug all the way to the glass on the bottow. Whenever the light is out they are just lying down there in it or cleaning it out. What the heck are they doing? I've heard about fish doing things like this to spawn but it seems odd that they would show those actions within a week. anyone?

    thx

    eric

  7. I'm running 5.5 watts per gallon right now and if i leave it on for that long it gets up to about 84 so I've been having it on from 6am to about 11 and then again from 4 until about 11 or something like that. It works great for keeping the temp where it should be and its getting a good amount of light. A big reason i did it is because i typically get up really early and go to sleep pretty late and with no one to show this thing off to during the day, it might as well rest.

could i be doing damage of any kind? I never really thought to see if that would work but while reading this thread it got me thinking.

    thx

    eric

  8. I'm looking to add a coral banded shrimp to my 45. Everytime i have a chance to go to a store they are out of them so i thought i'd see if anyone is looking to get rid of one. Any of the variations of the banded would be alright as well.

    thx,

    Eric

  9. Finally some life in the tank!!! I'm going to add a coral banded shrimp and a peppermint in the next week or so. I hope the hawk leaves the peppermint alone. ive heard it can be tough. any recommendations on other things that would be good additions to the tank?

  10. well, I want to do a bit of a balance between a full on reef tank and a fish tank. I plan on starting with some simple mushroom and zoo corals and working my way up. as far as fish go, i got a flame hawkfish today and plan on adding a clown pair and maybe one or 2 more. this is basically just going to be my jumpstart into something that i know is about to get out of control. If you have any recommendations on some tank mates for the hawk or some good corals to start with let me know.

  11. Hey all,

I'm finally up and running and have some life going in my tank!! I am looking to start adding some corals slowly. This will be my first attempt at a reef so i'm looking for something that doesnt require a wealth of knowledge. I've already added a Flame Hawkfish and am planning on doing 2 clowns of some kind in the near future. If you have any fish that might fit in my aquarium let me know (its a 45G) If anyone is looking to get rid of some stuff send me a PM and we can work something out. I have off today, tomorrow afternoon, and all day sunday. Thanks a lot!!

  12. Well, after additions, subtractions, things breaking, and other things being fixed this is where i am at. I have a eheim pro filter and a red sea prism skimmer for the filtration. I have 2 koreala (sp?) powerheads that are creating really good flow through the tank. I'm wondering if there are better locations for any of those things in the tank that will be more beneficial to it. I also re did the rocks because i was not quite as satisfied as before. any opinions on the current look? and finally... There are a few little heads that pop up out of one of the rocks... what do i have here? thanks everyone!!!

  13. Im gonna have to decline them. Dont want to risk it. ive seen how aggressive the clowns can be. They killed an emerald crab i had just cause he got to close to their anemone. with my luck theyed all just kill each other. I like my black percs too much thanks guys

If you know someone that needs to get rid of some clowns, i would probably take them in a week or so once my system is fully up and running (assuming my water quality is there).

  14. If I'm not mistaken mike, the capacitor is actually a completely different cylindrical piece that is on the other side of the light. This one says ignitor right on it. its a very small box with about 3 wires leading into it. I think i just found it from aquamedic for $28 (as long as i dont screw something up worse).

  15. If you are in RR I can help look at it and or replace your ballasts.

One thing you should try is the "sniff" method. Sniff around and see if you can smell the burned out part.

I'm on the east side just outside of downtown near 35 and town lake. Thank you for the offer. I've sniffed in it quite a few times and it seems that its the ballast inside is the smell. There is no visual sign of damage though. I thought for sure after the smell i would be able to see where the wires burned up or something like that. I'm probably going to bring it in today to aquatek and have them look at it as i called yesterday.

  16. Guess I'd better match wattages. I'd like to avoid what's happening in your avatar. :)

I don't know, I think if you can make a giant peace sign made out of fire shoot out of the ground, you should probably just do it.
