So your experience with a completely dry rock start up is very similar to mine. I only fought Dinos for the most part, but they were extremely intense. Knock on wood I haven’t seen even a sign of them since adding a uv sterilizer back in the beginning of December. I would estimate it was pretty close to the 10 month mark when I saw the first sign of coralline. I was running a year last October. So it’s been a little shy of 18 months at this point.

I feel like anytime I dose acro power or whatever seachem’s aminos are called I get a bad Dino outbreak. Haven’t tried since I started running the uv sterilizer. I’m scared to as my tank is cleaner than I’ve ever seen it. I still feel like the Dino situation and it getting worse when dosing pretty much anything could be caused my starting with completely dry, dead rock.

That thing is skeery looking. Hope I never find one in my tank.

When my tank was fairly new I dosed Acropower. I had a horrible outbreak of dinos that took forever to get rid of. I started with dead, dry rock. I’ve wondered if it had something to do with the lack of beneficial bacteria and other goodies. My tank is just over a year old. I’ve tried acropower a couple of times and still got dinos after. I’ve never continued the acropower again to let them get that bad. A dose or two of vibrant has gotten rid of it every time.

Something like that would work. Or an in wall/peninsula.

That tank is looking awesome. I agree about the side view. I always wanted and will have an in walk someday. I will definitely miss the side view though.

I love my pink jade. It was one of my first Frags with my old tank. Now it was with the new one as well.
