  1. I have used HOB Overflows for years, I personally would not paint a J or U tube. If it is painted you will not be able to tell if there is an accumulation of bubbles that might break the siphon. I just keep 2 and swap them out when they start to get an algae build up, they clean up really easy with a brush or papertowel and hot water.

  2. Thanks guys,

I am trying to see how low cost I can keep it. Most of the rock was in the back yard for about 4 yrs (previous system) the rest was Marco rock, and then a small chunk of established. I also used some "bio live sand" and a cup of Live sand from a local shop. I have a little 10 gal sump under it and the 14k 175 Watt ran me about 95 total.

I have been real suprised how fast the rock and sand has seeded and how fast the system is taking off.

  3. Hey Rick, Welcome!

So did you just get a 37?

I have had the 37 for 4 or 5 years, after I tore down my reef my brother bred some FW fish in it. I recently got the wild hare and decided to put it back together.

I am having fun with it.

  4. Just wanted to drop in and say hi, I have been in and out of the Hobby since 1990 and always come back. :D I know. Hopefully I will be able to meet up with you all one day. Looks like you have a nice strong club going on here.
