  1. Really? Oh no... I thought they would settle down in a hierarchy.
  2. I had a Bluestripe Pipefish in my aquarium for a little over a month... thick and happy... I decided to get some more as they were an interesting addition and added a mated pair... after the acclimation process, I added the pair and the two males began fighting immediately. My wife was able to get it on video... they seem to be getting along now... meaning staying apart and giving the alpha the right away... interesting video:
  3. I have an APC UPC on my tank just to power heater and MP10... I figure the least stuff on it the battery, the longer it would power it... they can do without lights for a while but definitely not heat and flow... BTW... really regret putting my tank so close to a window... lessen learned...
  4. After drooling for one of these, I finally pulled the trigger on buying one... just got it in my tank yesterday, but it seems to be happy.

    Freakin Blenny!

Definitely a lot of variability in blenny behavior... I was actually talking to someone else who said their Tailspot was munching away on coral... I do wonder if the diet I was feeding was not sufficient and cause the nipping... mainly cyclopeeze and seaweed sheets on clips... they might just need more steady source of veggies like some flake food... or I just got an insane blenny!

    Freakin Blenny!

I have to agree with JamesL... no algae on plate coral - he was just going to town on it. I double checked his ID... he was sold as Ecsenius lividanalis.. which I thought was a combtooth blenny... this picture is a dead ringer for him... http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+23+2105&pcatid=2105 I guess I should have checked here first...

    Freakin Blenny!

I guess I should have qualified with "Blue and Gold Blenny"... I have heard the Tailspots are safe but that is what I heard about these guys too...
  8. Despite all I heard and what they told me at Aquadome.... Blennies are not reef safe. I purchased a Blue and Gold Blenny (combtooth) on Sunday... today I notice all my monti's, caps, leng sy, etc have what look like small scratches or patches missing... I looked and wait and saw the bloody fish just nipping away at them... it wasn't easy to catch him, but I finally got him and put him in an isolation net... probably going to dump off at RCA... now to get my corals to heal!
  9. hahaha... thanks for the clarification... so what does a frag of My Miami run? I think I already gave you a kidney but might have some other body parts left. )
  10. Does your Miami Hurricane have a green rim on it?
  11. They look like sponges to me... they grew in my aquarium too but mine were yellow in color... if it is a sponge, then it is a could sign of a healthy aquarium.
  12. my pH is about 8.0... salinity runs 1.022 to 1.023 - depending if i did a water change (weekly 10%). My temperature is set at 78 - 80 deg. CA is 480 and ALK is 9... no traces of phosphates, nitrates, or nitrites... They were damaged (had some red bruising on the side when i got them)... I might be asking for tank raised from now on... Any other recommendations for a hearty schooling fish?
  13. Thank you... never tried Reefs2Go but heard good things... i might give online a try.
  14. I have tried 3 and 4 groups of Chromis from two different LFS, and I have had none make it... I check my parameters and have not found any cause... has any one had any luck with them? is there any secret to getting them acclimated? Any good online stores with quality Chromis? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
  15. I have use J-B Water Weld... have not had any problems and it is drinking water safe... I buy it at Home Depot
  16. +1 on Kenya Tree... I found a Cowrie-like snail... I removed it to be safe...

    TLC products

I mistakenly added Marco rock (dry rock) to a new tank build... had a mini cycle with a lot of diatoms... started using TLC for Saltwater Aquarium and have seen a significant reduction... Just started using it but will continue to use it for maintenance... BTW, Shane said SAT is really geared for hair algae and said I need the TLC for Saltwater Aquarium for diatoms and maintenance.
  18. Where did you get your yellow tang from? I was considering adding one to my aquarium. Also, what is your experience on their aggression? Any problems?
  19. Trying to nurse a sick acan back to health.... do you do anything special to get them looking so healthy? any tips I should try?

    Hermits

+1 on leave him alone... I use to go in there and free him up because I thought he was stuck, but I later found they never get stuck and are usually molting or just parking themselves and were always able to get themselves out.
  21. Same thing happened to me and my clown fish... I finally went to Home Depot and got a piece of plexiglass. I used a drimmel tool to cut it to fit as a well between then main tank and the false chambers. I later found that media baskets makes one so I bought it as part of a kit. I still have my original if you want it... It is for a biocube 29g but you can cut it down... Let me know if you want it.
  22. +1 on bristle worm... I asked the same questions, but after a lot of reading, I decided to just leave them in and remove them if they get too big or become a problem.
  23. Right... the triangle overflow would be easier to hide with rock work but it was the performance i was concerned with... thank you.
  24. Anyone try a triangular overflow? Meaning... a straight piece that forms a triangle when in a corner? Would this be more effective than a standard corner overflow?
