  1. I've managed to juggle my budget enough to spend some of my tax return on my tank. I'm looking for a new canopy because mine's not tall enough. My stand is a med oak color, and the canopy needs to be tall enough to have the lights at least a foot from the water. I'd love one that has the doors in front so I don't have to stand on a stool to feed them.

Also looking for a 250W MH retro setup, and either a single or double bulb 54W T5 setup. My goal is to have the MH on each side and T5 in front and back, so the T5 lights that have more than 2 bulbs will be too big.

I built my canopy for my 120 reef. But originally I finished it for a 90 gallon tank then changed it. My light sits 9 inches above the water I would recommend a combination of the moguls and the t-5 in the same fixture. I also like the front lift I used SOS hinges or piano hinges would be fine and easier. I used 3/4 plywood it is to heavy for one person to lift off the tank. So I would try 5/8 thick. I don't like drilling screws into plywood it tends to strip so I would put solid wood like oak or poplar behind it and screw into that. I made alot of errors on my canopy but it is still better than most ones you get at the store and a lot cheaper. Try to buy your lumber at a real wood store not Home Depot or Lowes to much per board foot you will be amazed on how much you save. I also put in two ice cap 4 inch fans on each side of the canopy they have worked great so far. Good luck if any more questions just reply if I can figure out how to email pictures I will send them to you.
