  1. I built my canopy for my 120 reef. But originally I finished it for a 90 gallon tank then changed it. My light sits 9 inches above the water I would recommend a combination of the moguls and the t-5 in the same fixture. I also like the front lift I used SOS hinges or piano hinges would be fine and easier. I used 3/4 plywood it is to heavy for one person to lift off the tank. So I would try 5/8 thick. I don't like drilling screws into plywood it tends to strip so I would put solid wood like oak or poplar behind it and screw into that. I made alot of errors on my canopy but it is still better than most ones you get at the store and a lot cheaper. Try to buy your lumber at a real wood store not Home Depot or Lowes to much per board foot you will be amazed on how much you save. I also put in two ice cap 4 inch fans on each side of the canopy they have worked great so far. Good luck if any more questions just reply if I can figure out how to email pictures I will send them to you.
