  1. If someone is able to come pick the stuff up today, you can pretty much name your price. Shoot me a private message or reply to this thread. Thank you
  2. Need to sell it this week. Feel free to offer any fair value. It's a great setup, but need to sell it ASAP.
  3. I'm moving this week and need to sell my 70g setup ASAP. $900 OBO Eqipment: 70g DSA RR tank custom stand / hood 75lbs of VERY purple live rock (you could probably re-sell the LR alone to make back most of the money, lol) AquaC EV-180 Protein Skimmer Coralife 36 Inch Aqualight W/ 2-96W Sq. Pin Base And 2-3/4W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED Lamps Fish: Medium sized blue tang 2 tank raised clown fish corals: none The tank has been maintained by Misty at SeaClearly the past several months while I have been out of town for business. This setup has been running stable for over 3 years with no crashes and was seeded from my smaller tank which ran for 2 years prior to upgrading. I have attached a shot of the tank though the lighting for the shot doesn't do the tank justice.
  4. I'm out of Austin for the next several months working. My roommate is feeding the fish while I am away but knows NOTHING about fish tanks. I need to hire one of the local shops to come in and do a monthly water change and check levels, etc. At minimum I'd want someone to come once a month, maybe twice a month with the second time just taking a look at it and testing the water. Who would you recommend? What do services like this typically cost? I live in North Austin if it makes a difference.
  5. Free sounds like a like a good price. LOL Any chance you could post a pic? I'll do a quick measure as well and ensure it'd fit. It should, but want to double check.
  6. I'm catching up on replies right now everyone who replied.
  7. I'm looking for a cabinet to put next to my tank to hold accessories. I need something that can hold 1 or 2 DJM power switches, a wire shelf for accessories and fit a 10-20 gallon water reservoir for an ATO. Ideal dimensions would be 16" deep, 31-34" tall and no more than 24" wide. Something like this but shorter. It can have 1 big door on it or nothing at all like this one. I'm looking for someone selling one cheap or possibly looking where I might find something like this around town.
  8. I'm looking for an auto top-off for my sump. Reliability and functionality are more important then cost. Though lower cost would help but ultimately I'm looking for something that will be reliable and work as expected. I'd be looking for something like a double switch for those "just in case moments". It won't be hooked up to a RODI it will be running from a pump (to be determined from switch option) attached to a water reservoir.
  9. Barry the giant sea worm discovered by aquarium staff after mysterious attacks on coral reef Aquarium staff have unearthed a 'giant sea' worm that was attacking coral reef and prize fish. The 4ft long monster, named Barry, had launched a sustained attack on the reef in a display tank at Newquay's Blue Reef Aquarium over recent months. Workers at the Cornwall-based attraction had been left scratching their heads as to why the coral had been left devastated and - in some cases - cut in half. After staking out the display for several weeks, the last resort was to completely dismantle it, rock by rock. Halfway through the process the predator was revealed as a four-foot polychaete worm. Staff eventually lured it out with fish scraps, but not before it bit through 20lb fishing line. Matt Slater, the aquarium's curator, said: 'Something was guzzling our reef but we had no idea what, we also found an injured Tang Fish so we laid traps but they got ripped apart in the night. 'That worm must have obliterated the traps. The bait was full of hooks which he must have just digested.' He added: 'It really does look like something out of a horror movie. It's over four feet long with these bizarre-looking jaws. 'We also discovered that he is covered with thousands of bristles which are capable of inflicting a sting resulting in permanent numbness.' Mr Slater said Barry, who has now been relocated to his own tank, probably arrived as a juvenile in a delivery of living rock from another aquarium.
  10. To determine the PSI many people use something like this http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q...=1&ct=title . Check out the few product results towards the top. The PDF I linked on my first reply will show you a graph showing the relation between estimated gph of your filter at various pressure levels. But you have it plumbed to the right one (cold) but sometimes a person water pipe is too powerful or not powerful enough and that can effect your RO/DI unit. Also you may want to try measure how much waste water you are getting per gallon of good water. Typically 3-5 gallons of waste water for every gallon of good water is fairly common for most people. If you are seeing ratios beyond that it could be that your membrane needs to be replaced but you might want to verify water pressure first if you can to rule that out (or confirm it as the culprit).
  11. What is the PSI on it? What temp is he room where you fill it in? What is the TDS reading for the water after it comes out? How much waste water are you generating per gallon of good water? Any signs of leaking? Also the attachment shows a graph showing the effect of PSI and temp on the results on your unti. Also the other things I asked might help figure out what's going on. 0901b80380074538.pdf
  12. I agree with this. It possibly couple block pods from going into the main display but more likely is it turns into a nitrate party.
  13. There is always something exciting about opening near gear. Even looking at the unwrap pictures makes me feel like a little kid at Xmas.
  14. I would be concerned if the laundry closet of an apartment didn't properly support the weight of a washer and dryer.
  15. Well I have lived here 2 years with no issues. ;-) Also I would consider it bad design if the laundry closet area of an apartment wasn't designed to hold the weight of a washer and dryer. But that all aside I live on the bottom floor so the washer isn't a deal anyway (not that it should in a laundry area). I have a 70g tank with 90lbs of LR plus a 30g sump/fuge so if anything were to be in my lower neighbors house it would be the tank. But that's why I always live on a bottom floor apartment.
  16. Neither. Just check it now and then. My sump seems to evaporate pretty fast and I have enough free room above where I usually fill the return chamber that unless I fell asleep while it was filling that way I should be fine.
  17. No pump. The output tube from the RODI unit is inserted into the long plastic tubing. I set the tubing to be going from high to low to utilize gravity. It worked out incredibly well considering the flow from the RODI is relatively slow. This not only allowed me to fill the sump slower making it easier on the system but prevented me from overflowing buckets which I *clears throat* occasionally do when refilling my 5g top off jug.
  18. Instead of carrying a jug from my RODI unit in my laundry closet to fill my salt water tank I ran a 20ft tube from the unit to the tank. Gotta love apartment living. This also allows me to add water at a slower rate instead of dumping a 5g jug of fresh water into the sump all at once.
  19. I have a JBJ K-2 Viper light. ( http://www.jbjlighting.com/sys_k2_viper.html ) The glass shattered not long ago. I don't know why. The bulb is fine but the glass shattered outward. I found glass in the tank. I don't know if it was the temp differential between the light and my room or what. JBJ wants $19 for the part and shipping. Does anyone know anywhere I can get it cheaper? Maybe one of the LFS here in town?
  20. Is it still available? I have a friend who is looking. He is not on the list. Is there an email address I can give him to contact you?
  21. I haven't seen any of you guys in quite a while. I've been checking the board but haven't seen any meeting announcements. Have we been having any monthly meetings?
