  2. I have finally run out of time and money to keep up my system. I have a large 105 gallon "show" tank. It is commonly called a show tank because it is half a foot taller than the standard 100 gallon tank and thus has a larger front view. It has been up and running for a few years. I am downgrading to a smaller tank for my new(smaller) house. One thing that makes this great for a reef tank is the 30" depth gives a wide variety of light intensity placement options for your corals.

The equipment will include the tank with a black cabinet stand(may need repainting), a 48" 8 lamp T5 TekLight w/ relitavely new tubes, an 15 gallon Oceanic Model 2 sump, an overflow box, a Mag 12 return pump with necessary hose and nozzle, a Euroreef 6a+(?) protein skimmer.

Also included are approximately 50 lbs of live rock (mostly fiji w/ some tonga), about 50 lbs of medium size aragonite (in between fine and course), a few corals (some green palis, a 4x4inch red/green brain favite?, some spiderman or superman zoas, a baseball sized galaxia coral, and maybe a few others).

The lamp can be a little finicky, so I bought a new ballast but never installed it. The ballast is aftermarket and possibly too large to fit inside the lamp which has two smaller ballasts with individual switches instead of this one with two seperate switches. It is the proper power rating and was about $70 bucks at The Lightbulb Shop on Burnet Rd.

Retail for the setup was originally(from memory of 5 years back/guesstimated LOL):
    TekLight - $650
    Skimmer - $420
    Live Rock - $300
    Sump - $250
    Corals - $150
    Mag 12 - $120
    Overflow Kit - $90
    Sand - $50
    Tank & Stand - $? I bought used for $300
    Total Retail Was: $2330

PLEASE MAKE AN OFFER, or buy now for $1750. I will accept monthly payments with $750 down, then $100 per month.

  6. Honestly, I really don't see the point. How can a "sponser" grow frags faster than the original donor? We already have this free section on the page too. If someone has free frags there is a place already here to share them. It just wouldn't be worth the organizing, planning, and other hastle necessary. If you have frags to propagate and share just post them for free here!

  7. I have tried cleaning the glass under the suction cups, but havent tried cleaning the suction cups themselves. The ball joints are tight; it's the suction cups that are moving. I'm not sure what to use to clean them exactly. Possibly rubbing alcohol or something?

  9. I have heard so many opinions about circulation. Answer the polls and give your 2 cents.

I have a mag12 for "turnover", and 3 koralia 4s and a maxijet 12 for flow in my 105g. I'm having a problem with the koralias. The fools designed it with a circular suction cup and magnet so it turns with gravity when I try to position it with the pump angled at all sideways. I get home always to find it pointing down.

    :(

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a simple and inexpensive solution?

  10. I know this is posted twice, but time is of the essence!

Will you nurse my medium polyp purple bubble coral back to health? All I want is a good size frag after it has recovered and you can keep the rest.

I'm a bit embarassed to put a picture on here. It's only about a square inch in size now after being about 4 when I got it. It's the most gorgeous bubble I've ever seen when it's happy and healthy.

Applicant must be a professional reefer.

    Please call John @ 512-542-1322

  12. I have a Coralife 24" 65w Aqualight PC fixture for my sump that quit working. It must be the ballast or switch or wiring. Does anyone know what I should do? My algae is all dying and that means less filtration. Does anyone have a 65w straight pin lamp I can borrow? Any other suggestions?

Please e-mail as I don't log on here as often anymore.

  13. I need 2 things.

    Glass cleaner:

I also need a new glass cleaner and I'm getting tired of my tiny mag-float doing more floating than magging. I'm interested if you have one of any brand that will stick to approx-5/8" thick glass.

    Light 1:

My algae is sparse after a couple weeks without a sump light. I have a Coralife 65w, 24", PC fixture that died on me. I'm not sure why. I took it apart and there is no salt creep or anything inside. I ordered new bulbs before I found out that wasn't the problem. I think it's a bad ballast or on/off switch. I need this to be fixed or replaced ASAP. Please contact me if you know how to repair a PC fixture or if you have a 65watt per bulb straight pin unit to sell.

    Light 2:

I bought a TekLight 48" 8 lamp fixture from AquaTek a couple of years ago. I have come home to find some bulbs haven't lit up lately. They come on if I twist them around a while. I don't think the issue is salt, since salt is usually a good electrical conductor, so I'm not sure what is the problem. All I know is the hood is warped, the reflectors are wide angled so I have to hang the fixture low to get the light into the tank, and there is also something wrong with it electrically. Do not buy one of these overpriced fixtures!!! Please help if you know how to fix these beasts.

  14. I drank half a pot made with some pre-ground starbuck's beans that I got for Christmas. I also wonder what the heck was in those beans. WHEW! It's 4 in the morning and I am just now getting ready to go to bed(although it's not that abnormal for me anymore).
