What materials did you use for both prints?

You'll be terribly disappointed to find out that's just the top of an old frag plug that is epoxied to the the rocks that has green and red coraline algwe on it. The urchin keeps it from getting dirty. It's been there for years
That is great sign me up for it because it looks neat from the top down.

That is the one I was talking about.

What are the bright orange corals top left and top center of the second picture and the multi coloured coral top left of the third picture just below and to the right of the hammer coral?
-
I have always wanted to run some gorgs, once I get ready to set up a new tank I am going to try and get some.

With all of Ty's mad science I just imagine him walking around his house in a lab coat surrounded by Jacobs ladders like all the great mad science movies.

I plan on doing the same thing with my next tank, whenever that will be. It's totally worth that extra insurance that you'll be starting pest free. Is the acid bath safe to just empty into the yard or did you have to do something special?
If you are worried dump a thing of baking soda into it to neutralize the acid.
-
It is a great way to get rid of those pesky aluminum cans also.Yup. 2 gallons of muratic acid. Be very careful. Don't inhale.

My guess is that the threads are just extra long but make sure they are not cross threaded because that is pretty easy with plastic fittings. If they are to long you can always take a saw or Dremel and cut the extra threads off the bottom.

Yeah, since it requires a sight glass (and free movement of the flow ball), i wondered how often between cleanings and what the loss in accuracy over time in a marine aquarium would be.
That style should not require to much work since they are pretty simple perhaps as simple as running a pipe cleaner through it to clear the path once a year or so but I don't know what kind of build up you get out of a carx.

Flow meters will require occasional cleanings to prevent a build up of material that would possible change the characteristics of the meter. In your case soaking the meter to remove any build up might be all you need but I would check the manual to be sure.
Thanks bud! It seems saltwater reef tanks have treated you well in your degree program! [emoji4]Love the new CaRx! I swear the only thing getting me through carbonate geochemistry is calcium reactors...How long between cleanings on that flowmeter?
I don't follow on the flowmeter. Is there a periodic maintenance I need to know about for the unit?

Are you getting into fights with plumbing legends?
Haha, you caught that, didn't you. [emoji41]Bean animals hate on the 'no water changes' thread is messing with you. Stay strong young farmer. The force is strong with your fire, and ice.

It's alright... I've never seen his tank but I can give kudos to his plumbing skills! [emoji106]

What is the smallest tank you could put one of those in?
-
Brs also has black pvc pipe and fittings as well as locline in various sizes. I would still put a check valve on the returns just incase the locline gets bumped accidentally or something, better have it and not need it than flood your house.

Is it really a good idea to compare Ty's thread to the arc of the covenant? I feel like this will just inflate his ego more.
Kind of like this?Only the truly strong can handle the endless wealth of knowledge without going insane! [emoji12]

I feel like if a modern day hercules came around today one of his trials would be to read all of Ty's thread and not go slightly insane.

When I joined in May I read the whole thread it took several days.

Ya but if I remember right it is back almost half way. When will the book be printed? Farmer Ty's Coral Reef 215 Build coming to a store near you.
If you read back a ways in the thread there is a 'Cliff's Notes' style summary of the entire thread to that point that is spot on and hilarious.
-
Man if I had known that I would have posted twice.
Huzzah! You sir are the recipient of a free frag for being the 2000th post in my build thread! You know where to find me the next time you're in town. [emoji6]

I thought it looked like a Duncan but it seemed to big.
If you're talking about the giant LPS coral, that's a fat boy Duncan colony, about the size of a cantaloupe. What is the coral on the sand bed next to your anemone?
