  1. I acquired an up and running 100 gallon tank which had fish only and these two high end huge artificial coral inserts. Found the large eel cave here at livingcolor(dot)com. The tiles in the picture are 16 inches apart so you can see the two pieces end to end are about 5 feet. The eel cave tube on the left is the longest at about 33 inches. Each piece weighs about 40lbs. So I had never known of these before. I may keep one but not both, Now the question is where should I post them for sale? Should I ask austin aquarium if they want them? How much should I ask? I see the large eel cave is $1100 plus tax and $100 shipping from living color aquarium .... I would be very happy with half or less. Opinions? Fyi prior owner said he paid $3000 yikes for these two years ago .... guess somebody buys them? Marineland?

  2. Using non reef instant ocean salt for coral. What are the issues? I acquired a 100 gallon with non reef instant ocean saltwater in it. What is the actual difference between instant ocean reef and non reef salt mixes? Can I supplement to bring water to reef like water? How? With what products? I do have some red sea coral salt I could mix and replace with should I? I assume a partial change with coral salt would add elements for my corals to be happier? I know fish but not so much about reef and corals.

  3. Very nice that you got your other fish to teach the moorish idol, perhaps I will try getting my dry food and frozen brine shrimp eaters to do the same with a idol. Fyi I just bought a tank which had some fish one is a 5" female blue throat trigger she likes flake but will not touch shrimp meat.

  4. My first post on arc ..... A week ago I Purchased a 100 gallon acrylic complete with some fish and a life reef wet dry filter and life reef vs3 skimmer. Merged other fish, live rock, and undergravel filters from 55 gallon to 100 Gallon. Chemistry tests good and I am now preparing to connect this to 3 foot Skimmer to the wet dry sump.

Question is I found in book I love .. Reef Secrets by Nilsen on page 33 this statement .... "skimmers that are either too small or.too large.can create problems" so I have a perhaps too big skimmer what problems could this cause?

Fyi I just signed up at arc will meet you at the February 28th meeting.
