Thats a great looking stand! Planning on doing a matching canopy?

I can't find a pet food container size that will work for me. I think I may go the DIY route and build a small glass or acrylic tank for my ATO reservoir. A dual electric solenoid setup is wayyyy over my head so I'll leave that for yall to figure out.
In other news got a new shipment of equipment in today!
2nd Gyre XF150
2 Ice Cap Modules
Ice Cap Battery Backup (I'm thinking of going ahead a getting a 2nd one so each unit will have a backup.)
Vectra L1 return pump
Apex Leak Detection module with 3 leak detectors
Another Apex powerbar
2 Finnex 500W heaters
I *think* all I have left to order is:
2nd ATI Hybrid Powermodule - I'm trying to wait for a coupon or for it to go on sell, doesn't look like its going to happen though!
T5 bulbs
Plumbing parts
Sand
2 boxes of salt
75g tank for sump
Work to be done before the tank arrives:
This weekend I am going to start curing the dry rock I have. I power washed it clean this past weekend so hopefully the curing process wont take more than a few weeks.
Move the 40g planted tank away from the new tank's spot.
Have electrician install 20 Amp circuit, GFCI, replace current outlet with a 20 amp outlet and hopefully add a 2nd 20 amp outlet.
Cut baffles and install in sump

GREAT SCOTT!!

According to online sources, they will eat smaller shrimp but may leave the larger types (fire, pistol) alone.

Oh I see, good to know.

Is this stuff more nutritious than the nori you find at the fish store?

Super gluing it down is fine, it will be growing like a weed in no time!

Awesome, look like everything is settling into their new home well! Lots of good looking new corals.

I had Marc from Melev's Reef build a custom acrylic ATO container. It's 14.75" long, 4.5" wide, 24" tall - approximately 7 gallons. This allowed me to put it on the right hand side next to the sump and use up some previously unusable space. The tank evaporates about 3 gallons/day max so it only holds 2 days worth of water. I put an electric solenoid on the RO/DI feed line and hooked that up to a programmable light timer that has it turn on for 1 hour M, W, F, Sa. Ta-da! Infinite ATO. I just check the TDS every once in a while when I hear it running, or when I make a lot of water for a water change and call it good.
Ah, that would be ideal to have it hooked up to the RODI unit. Unfortunately my unit is at the opposite end of the house and I don't think my wife would allow a water line to be running through the kitchen!
You could check out Advanced Acrylics for an ATO container. I had them custom make mine and I really like it. They also have stock sizes up to 30 gallons, and usually have a black friday sale too!
Cool, thanks for the recommendation. A little more than I was hoping to pay, but I will definitely keep and eye on it for black Friday!

Yeah, the flex PVC would only be for two awkward angles going up from the manifold to the return lines. That being said I still need re-think my plumbing and re-locate the manifold over the sump so I may be able to hard plumb it all.
Also I'm curious what do y'all use for auto top off containers on larger tanks? I want something that will fit under the stand, but most the containers I see online are only around 10 gallons. A 16 gallon tall aquarium would be perfect, but they don't seem to be commonly available.

Had a great time meeting everyone and finally putting some screen names to faces.
Got some great frags too!

Well after trying a few trouble shooting tips without success I decided to reset the apex itself. It fixed it. Both lights are on now. I'm still not sure what happened .
I appreciate everyone's help!

Hey guys, I was messing with the timing and intensity of my two Build My Leds last night and today only one of the two is working . After an hour of fiddling with it I'm kinda stumped with what I messed up. Maybe someone can see an error in the code?
I did notice both lights were on for about 5 minutes before one of them went out. Also, I did find an overlap in timing on one the outputs below that I corrected, but the one light still remains off. I checked all the connections and couldn't find anything that came loose.
The goal is to have both lights come on at 1:00 PM, ramp up to 90% over 2 hours, stay at 90% for 5 hours, then ramp back down over two hours before they turn off for the day.
Power Plug Code - Note: Both lights are on the same power strip plugged into the single apex powerbar outlet.BML_12K_14KFallback OFFSet OFFIf Time 12:59 to 22:01 Then ONIf Temp > 81.0 Then OFFOutputs:BML_1Set OFFIf Time 13:00 to 15:00 Then BML_SunriseIf Time 15:01 to 20:00 Then BML_DaytimeIf Time 20:01 to 22:00 Then BML_SunsetIf Time 22:01 to 12:59 Then OFFBML_2Set OFFIf Time 13:00 to 15:00 Then BML_SunriseIf Time 15:01 to 20:00 Then BML_DaytimeIf Time 20:01 to 22:00 Then BML_SunsetIf Time 22:01 to 12:59 Then OFFProfiles:BML_SunriseType: RampRamp Time: 120Start Intensity: 15End Intensity: 90BML_DaytimeType: RampRamp Time: 1Start Intensity: 90End Intensity: 90BML_SunsetType: RampRamp Time 120Start Intensity: 90End Intensity: 15Here is what it looks like on my Apex Fusion homepage: -
Ty, his tank still has your name on it! Its just a small upgrade
Nice. That's always the worst part... The trickle of equipment just builds the excitement but you can't play yet...
I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
Oooooh...another gyre! You're going to love it. Got mine set up a couple of days ago...amazing!
Yep, I have another one on the way too! I think I'm going to set it up on my 75g (at very low power) for the time being just so I can play around with it.

Got the first batch of equipment for the new tank

Nah I have some egg crate ready to go, thanks for the offer though. I was looking for the acrylic kind that has magnets or suctions to the side of the tank.

Anyone going to be selling frag racks at the swap?
-
Where do I locally buy the neon orange or yellow plastic rods to divide my frags for sale so I can arrange groups by price? Getting everything ready... It's too late to order those in without giving my first born for speeding delivery.
I saw some orange fiber glass rods at Lowes in Leander last week. I think they were called driveway rods or something. Not sure if that's what you are looking for, but they are next to all the iron rods.

Cool videos! I need to get my goPro working so I can take some of my own.

Sad day, but I am sure you will be glad you did it in the long run. Good luck with the move, I look forward to seeing your new build thread!

Thanks for the info on flexpvc.com, I see the fittings now. I couldn't find them on that site the first time I looked.
What type of drain are you using?
It will be a bean animal drain with 1.5" pipes.

Tank is heading to production!
I'm starting to order some plumbing items so I can have the parts in by the time the tank arrives. I'm a plumbing newbie so I need some advice.
Is there a disadvantage in using flexible PVC, besides price?
Is there a source for black sch. 40 PVC fittings? (elbows, Y's and tees)
Are loc-line fittings available bigger than 3/4"? If not are there any other products that are similar? This is what I want to do, but I'm not sure how to do it without loc-line. The pictured returns would be kept at the surface of the water to help with surface skimming and prevent the need for a check valve. -
Nah that starfish is just chillin' admiring the view.
Cool looking gonioporas, do you plan on placing them close to each other and creating that garden type look?

Just to update, they cannot make the internal overflow any thinner than 6 inches front to back due to structural concerns. I am going with 1.5 inch piping for the bean animal drain which requires larger holes and they don't feel comfortable making them any closer to the edge.
I made a cardboard cutout of the dimensions of the tank and after looking things over I decided to cut the over length to 30". I do not think the 6" that I will lose will have a significant impact on surface skimming. It's still a large overflow and I think the Vectra L1 will provide enough power to be able to move the surface water where I want it.

I was worried that a single gyre running may not agitate the surface enough produce enough oxygen for the tank. Once the battery kicks in the gyre will automatically go to 30%. You can daisy chain two backups together to get double to run time on a single pump, no unplugging the old backup and plugging in to the new one required.
