  2. awesome work BPB! glad to see your tank successful after all the hard work.

You still doing CPs? Terraforums has been dead for a while, lot of the regulars have moved on. I abandoned the outdoor bog and am doing a highland tank build now, if your interested I'm tracking it on FlyTrapCare forums!

Sorry to hijack. Keep up the good work.

  3. If I remember correctly, he had a crash and then got out. I remember buying coral frags from Mike back in the day. It was a great system. It was a prime example of the classic SPS tank, MH lights, 10k bulbs (yellowish), no sand, tons of flow, and I think he was running zeo but I can't remember. He had great growth and larger colonies. It was ultra low nutrient... So low that LPS wouldn't survive.

that's awesome. Ya its zeovit, and it's tanks like these that are inspiring me to take the plunge into the method.

  4. This truly is the strangest case of bad SPS luck that I've seen. The fact that you have great luck with literally every type of coral (including SPS) other than Acropora really makes me think that its something specifically targeting the genus, as others said here. Have you done that Triton test yet? I'm really curious to see what the result is. I really do think you'll find despite all the heartache that the resolve to this issue is just in reach, considering throughout this tank's timeline you have eliminated every other variable that could be affecting the corals.

Also do you run carbon on the tank?

If it's any consolation, your tank is still pretty awesome looking.

  5. I think I'm waaaay overdue on an update on this... Sorry for the absence.

None of the corals you see on the rest of this thread are in my possession anymore. They are either with other reefers, but unfortunately the majority of the SPS are in that big reef in the sky :/ the SPS that didnt survive never encrusted the rocks. I'm pretty sure It had something to do with wonky test kits with bad readings. Oh well.

The good news is I'm going full force on making the tank ship-shape. In between now and the last time I updated, the tank experienced a massive outbreak in Aiptasia. I stocked the tank with two butterflyfish (Raccoon and Pebbled) in the hopes that they can help with the outbreak, and one other fish that shall remain a surprise until I post pics biggrin.png

    Pics coming tomorrow. Cheers!

hmm, may be a tad bit too large for me. Could you PM me some pics?

  7. Necro-Bump smile.png this is still available. Dropping price to $330 OBO (emphasis on OBO, I'm not super picky). Also available for trade to anyone looking to downsize from a 90-120 gallon reef ready tank, and looking to trade tank for tank.

  8. Giddy I think you would appreciate some of the Jason Fox coral. He has some nice YouTube videos you can watch and see how things really look (well kinda). And he has some amazing chalices.

Jason Fox's stuff is pretty nice... I'm thinking of ordering from him in the near future.
  9. ...you guys just saved me $1500 in Christmas savings I think il buy a watermelon chalice instead... About a thousand dollars cheaper and is colored as advertised. Unless... Someone can prove me wrong with their cornbred specimen.....wink.png

$500 for a watermelon chalice? it better be the size of your hand....
Haha it was 12:00am when I said this... Lol
