Well we have begun the slow process of building and setting up our saltwater tank. The plan is to have fish, LR, inverts and maybe soft corals. We are starting with an old Oceanic 55g tall I bought for $100. I stripped off the plastic trim and drilled the back of the tank. I drilled 3 outflows for 1-1/2" pipe and 1 return flow for 1" pipe. Here is a pic of the bare tank stripped and drilled.

I bought some bulkheads from Amazon and then this weekend I built a stand frame. I will sheath the frame in plywood and paint it.

You can see in the background, I bought a pretty nice Coralife T5 fixture from ckyuv (Patrick). Thanks Dude!

Is the aquaC ev120 still available?

I am looking for a sump, approximate size ~30-36" X 14-16" X any. I can be empty and with or without baffles. I will customize it. Also need a small skimmer.

Hi, we are joining as a couple, Rick and Kenda. I used to build saltwater aquariums back in the late 80s but I haven't had a tank since then. My wife has never done saltwater aquarium keeping. So, I guess I am relearning while she is learning. The technology has come a long way since 1989 and we are excited to get our first new tank started.

I drilled a 55g last weekend. Ended up drilling the back since I couldn't be sure the bottom wasn't tempered but it went quite smoothly. It was easier than I thought it would be. Next is building a custom stand and we plan to go with a canopy setup.

If anyone has a old sump they don't need, I 'd love to take it off your hands.
