give the new girl some time, if she's eating you're ahead of the game.

More flow, bigger skimmer, less fish.
+1 we have a good selection of high end skimmers at aquatek, including a few inexpensive ones on consignment, you might do well to explore your options there.

don't forget 300... dudes killing things with spears for 3 hours? yes please

I recently recieved an order of exotic palythoas from Dustin at Zoanuts, great colors, good sized frags for the price, especially considering the colors he's getting.
As for service, Dustin's a cool dude, and a displaced Austinite, which generally says something for the content of a man's character.
The business is moving to Ft. Worth in a few weeks, and I've been informed a liquidation sale is going to be happening sooner than later, it's a site everyone would do well to check out, maybe we can do a group order and ship the whole mess to aquatek where everyone can pick up their frags? I'm sure if we put a big order together there'd be some freebies to raffle off between the people who bought in on the order.
Give it a look, I know I'd order from him again.

those would be deresas, that big one was nice, just make sure it's not too warm, has enough flow over it, and keep it up near your lights, and it should do fine
kat's suggestion to put some rubble around it to encourage it to put it's foot down is spot on, once they pick a spot they're actually pretty hard to move

we have a strange white one with fine red banding at aquatek, I like it, and that's saying a lot.
-
I haven't seen it yet, but I've heard from people I trust with movies that it's exactly what is to be expected, big robots and explosions for all, but don't expect a deep meaningful experience.

tropic marin is a good salt, we sell it at aquatek, I generally prefer to use bigger names though, right now I'm using oceanic with no problems, and no problems is a good enough situation for me FWIW.

how's that clam doing?
-
under PCs you're going to want your clam to be just under the surface, there's just no way a clam will do well under PCs with much distance between them and their light source.
a picture would help us a lot more identifying your clam than verbal description, break your camera out, get a few shots, then we'll be able to help a lot more with the id on this guy.
if your clam is extending it's mantle and closing up when fish swim past it or brush against it, that's perfectly normal, just give it time to adjust to your tank, keep it close to the lights, and you should have reasonably good luck, especially if it's a deresa or squamosa rather than a crocea.

I just left you a voicemail, check it out if you haven't already.

I'm gonna stick to my guns and say Horizon is best what sort of stuff do you keep in your personal tank?
well if it's war you want our staff outnumbers yours five to one...
also j/k
Aquatek is full of teh awesome too, you should come by sometime, I really haven't seen any of the stores in SA since I've only been living here a few months and haven't made it down that way yet... but I think I'm going to check out the sale at your store today, this sucks because I'm going to be looking for a big honeycomb moray in a few months once my 100G is ready, I think I'm going to at least take a look at one of my favorite species out of sheer massochism.
That being said, I'm a predator fan, my obsession with Scorpaeniforms is borderline unhealthy, right now I have 2 lions, the Limba Straits fuzzy dwarf in my avatar and an angry fu manchu I've started calling Pei Mei. And I'm an admitted palythoa addict, though I've been getting into tubasrea pretty hardcore lately. I also love my mantis shrimp, he's a G. chiraga named chi-chi the destroyenator I have a few pictures of some of my critters in the gallery on here
also, thanks for reminding me to advertise in my sig...

so your store sent a spy too eh?
glad to see more people in the business end of this who are really serious about keeping reefs themselves
-
I would guestimate stylophora also, unless you have the frag right next to a powerhead or something... birdsnest grows a lot like that if it's kept in very high flow.
-
I'll be amazed if that clam lives at the bottom of your tank with 8W of PC... that's really not bright enough.
mine hang on just below the surface under 130W PCs.. but I wouldn't get too attached to that clam if that's where it's going to stay... you definitely won't have to worry about it outgrowing your tank.

I'd bank on the clown in question being occelaris, it doesn't have the heavier black markings you generally see on Perculas.
second guy is totally a forsteri hawk, neat little fish, just don't plan on buying any nice shrimp.

I guess I'm just being a boring pragmatist then

I know we have some nice green shrooms right now, and some big watermelon shroom rocks, not positive about blues.
since you asked though, we have an unusual white cocoworm in, but no orange ones.

I was actually over by the Domain apple store on the 29th to get my macbook battery replaced after the recall, took me a long time to find out about it.. but there was nobody in the store, and a que a good 30 meters long waiting to get the iphone at 6 PM, I wouldn't have thought much of it if it wasn't 10:30 in the morning... this confused me for two reasons, for one there are that many people unwilling to just order online and get their phone delivered to their door on monday, and two there are that many austinites who can both afford to drop 600 bucks on an iphone and afford to take a weekday off of work to stand in the sun for 9 hours and wait for it... I understand apple fandom but at the end of the day it's still just a cellphone... the first run of everything apple makes is generally kind of crappy compared to the upgrade that's inevitably released a year later anyway.

we've got some big mushroom rocks at aquatek you could split fairly easily and save yourselves the shipping cost, if you come in on my shift I can break colonies apart if people want to split them a 60 dollar mushroom rock is a lot easier to afford split 3 ways, there's a reason I keep a pickhammer and prybar in my truck

Are you the one with the lip rings? If so, I'm the lady that comes in every week or so just to check out what you have. You were feeding the lionfish for me the other day, you tried to feed the rhino looking fish but he wasn't interested. I think I had my 12 yr old daughter with me......anyway, I'm fairly new here myself, but welcome!
yup, that's me. I liked that little lion a lot, whoever has him now got a great fish.
thanks for the welcomes
edit- just threw a handful of pics up in the members gallery, I'll get more up another time when teh interwebs aren't being slow

hey everyone, chances are I've bagged up something for most of you in the last few months, I'm the skinny dude who started working at Aquatek a while back, I kept meaning to register on here but beer, women, and waterchanges kept distracting me... but at any rate I'm here now, and I look forward to getting to a few meetings and frag swaps sooner than later
