  1. I used to use 3 radion gen 2 on my old 150g setup but that was only a 5x2x2 foot print. I had my radion 2 at 80% output.

I got suggested to upgrade the gen 2 to gen 3 pro plus add 2 more gen 4 pro in between all lined up across the new 280 tank.

I wanted to see if I can get away with just 4 radion gen 4 pro and sell the 3 old radion gen 2?

  2. I like to take a vote or hear open suggestion on light placement and setup. I just read a thread recently on R2R, a member setup his tank about similar dimension as mine, 6x2.5x2.5 and he's getting away with only just 4 Radion gen 4pro due to the new spread he's getting from the lens. Only thoughts? Thanks!

  3. Latest update, finished the stand and thanks to Seth and Jim, we got the tank finally on the stand into the formal dining room.

Now I'm cleaning up the rest of the equipment. I've also started ordering sand, rock, salt, etc. Also I've send out quote request to several different vendors on a frag tank with stand so that we can plumb it into the same system.

It's definitely quite exciting to see the build moving along! 891cc7b5a077ec8bc752171fecec067b.jpg

  4. Upgrade from 150 - in sanding phase of the stand so I can re-stain it to a darker color to match furniture.

Here's the original color of the stand from front and side view - just clearing it up and prepping it for standing took a while since my garage is pack with stuff lol

Today I have started sanding, my 1st time using a orbital sander - its quite amazing but its taken some time just to do a little.  For anyone that being to my house know that I have 4 kids.  They usually need more attention on the weekends since there's no school lol.  I estimating it will take me couple weeks to get this stand sand down while I joggle with the kids at the same time.

One can see that I would have use hand to sand the detailed area.  It's definitely encouraging to see that I finally started it!!!!  I was dragging it forever lol.

  5. Sad day in ole Courage Station. When putting my power head on feed mode for a late night coral spot feeding something caught my eye behind the tank on the floor, draped over a wire. After closer inspection I see it is the dried out dust covered body of my beloved leopard wrasse. Favorite fish ever. She was several years old. Ate everything under the sun I put in the tank, and feared nothing. Bummer. Being that my fish are all otherwise super healthy I'm hesitant to run by petco to get a rebound fish. Especially since I don't have a quarantine. I'll hold out for a local with a healthy tank wanting to get rid of a fish. I won't buy another leopard wrasse. Too sensitive of shippers. I just really got lucky with this one. Bummer. It really is true. They will find the smallest gap in the hood to escape from. I think I may get some screening before getting another fish.

totally feel your pain, it happened to my yellow coris wrasse about 5yrs ago....ended up coughing up the money and redo the whole canopy to move the empty open space from the back to the top instead.

  6. The sad part is the realization that I have tested my alk 22 times since the beginning of the year. It's only February 6th!!! doh.gif

Ty since I don't have a frag tank....I asked my wife to test my alk once every other day lol!!!!!!

  7. Believe it or not, my SPS went through a lot of crap in my tank lol. They usually trained well enough to take a little beating as far as I know. But trust me, I know how you feel. Sometimes its not you, it's the DNA of the coral itself. The coral just able to tolerate bad parameter better than others even within the same species. We can pretty say the same with human being too.

  8. Some are a little browned out from the trip. Others look great. Here's the inventory

    1. Rainbow Nebula microclados

    2. Purple Tonic Prostrata

    3. Yellow Lantana montipora

    4. Red Robin Stag

    5. PC Rainbow (the good side is facing backward what is in the pic was previously the underside)

    6. Blue Planet Tenuis

    7. Long Beard Lagoon echinata

    8. Pink branching Cyphastrea

    9. Rainbow galaxy prostrata (or is it a milie)?

They're gonna hang out on the sandbed for a few weeks

The last one is a Aussie Spathulata according to Pacific East Aquaculture. [emoji6]
  9. Triggers are fine if you get blue jaw, pink tail, or crosshatch. I have had trigger in my tank with no problem to my corals....can't really speak for all the chromis or Firefin lol

Now big angels can be cool in a SPS tank if you keep them happy and full. I personally had the emporer angel with no problem.

I have even experimented with puffer...of course the smaller ones but they can do some damage to the tip of your coral.....if you have enough coral and those coral grow fast enough. Its totally cool.

Since 3 yrs ago. I have stop experimenting with fish and got into collecting acro strictly lol

  10. So, here's what I started with from Central Market:

    hehe4usu.jpg

For the spirulina component, I used NLS algaemax pellets, which are a mixture of Spirulina and 8 other algaes. I left the sugar out as it is generally used as a carbon source and I'm already solid carbon dosing so I didn't feel the need to add it.

Viola, everything blended into a tasty SPS soup concoction.

I think people have exaggerated the smell of this mixture. It reminded me of the ocean. I was preparing for the foulest smell to ever accost my senses but it never happened.

I froze it in little flat sheets in a zip lock bag since I didn't have a small ice cube tray for it. I figured I could just break it off in roughly 5 ml chunks and feed it to the tank.

Dude look at those fresh seafood....they need to go in a hot pot or something lol.
  11. I think my urchin is on fire...

Be forewarned, if you are looking to relax, this isn't the video for it. It'll make you pump your fist in the air and want to party all weekend!

Looks like the urchin is trying to get into the mix for getting his groove on...

    So far:

    -breeding clownfish

    -breeding mandarins

    -breeding mini brittle stars

    -pod city in my tank

-and the solo act from my urchin

Ty, is that the PC rainbow frag glued there in the video? Wife really like the background music lol.
