  1. No kidding? I'll have to look it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Well. Since my son was born this month I got some time off from work. Proud and thrilled to have made the time to make a substantial upgrade to the gym. Carried off the old wobbly rusted and corroded squat rack with one arm down to the curb, and replaced it with a nice new 4 post rack, and made a simple but clean and functional deadlift platform for it as well. Hit the weights today for the first time in a month. Numbers have fallen a bit, bit with Improved (and safer) gear, I'll get them back up in a couple weeks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Man oh man that is so tempting. I don't think my calcium reactor is cooking quite enough media for that to work. If I go more than 1 month without a water change things start looking bad. Get stn on the pocillopora and birdsnests. Acans and lobos start shrinking up. They perk up and improve almost instantly with a water change Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Since my last update things have only changed location. Still just shooting x rays and ct scans. I'd like to go to medical school, but I fear that ship sailed on me 2-3 years ago. Would have been a lot easier to do before kids Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I literally have to stick an iPad in my 2 year olds hands to get her to stop trying to splash in the dirty water as I siphon it oit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Lol we will be saying it together. Number 3 for me is due in 2 weeks lol. Somehow I think you'll be able to keep up with your husbandry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Ha ha. Children are destroying my reef tank Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Yikes! Nitrate up to 32 ppm. PO4 up at a rip roaring 0.43 ppm. Yikes indeed. I haven't run any kind of reactors in two years. I may need to hop online and order a reactor and actually use all this gfo I'm hording. Not exactly going for an ULNS, but PO4 this high cannot be good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Elon Musk? You some kind of perfume salesman? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. You've done more work in the last 10 years than some do in a lifetime! Good to see another Aggie on the boards! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Haha ok thanks! Do you have a tank thread somewhere on here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Good to hear from another college station local! I've kind of fallen off the map on meeting other local hobbyists. Made very good friends with several though. I'll pass on the anemone though. Not real big on nems. I have the one just to keep my clown fish from misbehaving but one is plenty lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I'm loving all the big gorgs you added. They look just rigjt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. New bulb combo is SUPER blue. Just a hair whiter and a bit brighter than my dawn dusk. Which is fine because Zoas and lps just look better under this color. Adjusted the gas for the first time in a couple months on the calcium reactor as well. Alk falling a bit. Means things are growing! Can't complain there. What else. Picked up 5 gorgs today. A couple are iffy. I'll keep my fingers crossed though. They were dirt cheap. Been a while so here some pics of a few lps and some of my LOLtrash sps Old bulb combo fts New bulb combo fts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Been a couple months since updating. Not much too overly exciting. This morning I changed my bulb combo to the following Front: Blue+ Coral+ True actinic Blue+ True actinic Blue+ Coral+ Blue+ Rear I removed the 6500k and the purple+. I loved the look for acros and other sps but I'm trying to collect more lps lately and I feel this will offer me a bit better coloration, perhaps a touch less par, and less reds. I only operate 6 out of 8 bulbs during peak photoperiod. I basically just use channel 1 for a 2 hour dawn and 2 hour dusk, and then channel 2 for the 8 hour peak photoperiod. I also replaced my heater proactively. My previous heater was 5 years old. Still working faithfully but I figured best not to tempt fate. In the process I noticed my bubbletip had split. The clones are right next to each other so I never noticed. I'll likely pick up a few gorgs today. Nothing much changed. What I currently have is doing pretty well. No updated pics yet. Side note. My router went out so I replaced it, and my apex firmware is out of date. It hasn't connected to the web in a couple months now. Besides updating the firmware I'm not sure how to get it to connect again. I seem to remember kind of stumbling on it with my last router lol. I hate calling tech support Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks bud. No carbon or triton test yet. I have done 80 gallons of water change in the last couple weeks. Everything else is still looking pretty solid. I'm just making sure to stay up with feedings and regular maintenance, letting what I have grow in. It's kind of flying auto pilot right now. On the downside. My router went down so I had to get a new one and now I cannot get my wireless bridge to connect to it, so I've been without apex fusion for a week now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Nah these guys make the drive up every couple weeks with a cooler. Bring a few dozen acro frags, come back with one or two or just store credit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. These are college station locals and I don't believe you know them. They're not real big forum users but have spectacular tanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Do you think it's possibly the stress of being fragged and placed in a new environment that could have potentially put them on the losing end? It's just odd to me that something can grow so well and look so good but the frags bite the dust. Btw these frags of mine that are dying...are keeping the frag tanks at RCA well stocked. My two friends I've bought everything from bring a cooler up to RCA and trade in for store credit about once or twice a month. There have easily been several dozen frags of these same things circulated around Austin via RCA over the last year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I'll also mention it's not been tank wide. It has literally jumped from one or two, take out those frags, then one or two, so on. I still have a few in there that look completely unaffected. I started with somewhere around 25 different frags. Am down to about 4 left. And they die the exact same way. One after the other. Even the green slimer bit the dust Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Having a scientific background and understanding bugs yes pests are ALWAYS a possibility. But I haven't seen any of the typical tell tale signs. Never saw traces of anything in dipping. Never any bite marks. Never any red bugs seen on macro photos, and most importantly the mother colonies I got these from are continuing to grow with literally the best PE I've ever seen in any tank on any forum. I mean this red planet mother colony has PE that makes a happy chipps acro look dead in comparison. Can't exaggerate it enough. I just don't believe there is enough evidence to support the pest possibility but naturally it can't be ruled out entirely. It's also not STN from the base every time which is a bigtime indicator of flatworms. No bite marks. No PE retraction. Same stuff. I have good color, decent PE, no base STN. starts with a little tip burning, followed by browning and just random necrosis all over. Sometimes it's even RTN where the flesh literally peels right off the whole colony over an hour or two. Even while the polyps are out. No alk spikes to speak of to point toward the tip burning either. I've sunk too many hundreds of dollars into acros in this tank though I've gotta draw the line here. No more until there's a full tank upgrade in the future in which I will be starting with all new rock and sand. Going from scratch. Zero corals. And I'll do a triton test of sorts before even attempting any. For now I'll let my birdsnests take over the rock. I'd honestly take the tank down and take a break if my family didn't like the fish so much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Someone has recommended I do a triton test. I may do that. A contaminant has been my number one suspect. While yes, i did have 5-6 maricultures go belly up, the red planet, frog skin, stags, and other long time captive grown name brand ones that make me really believe it's not just bad luck maricultures. Anyway one of these days I'll find out how to send off for a triton test Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Well. The reactor has worked flawlessly. No fluctuating. No leaks. Stable bubble rate, stable effluent. I am 99.9% there is something with my specific tank or rocks that acropora are sensitive to. Some form of contaminant I'm guessing. Maybe something in the acid I used to treat the rocks, maybe something in the mud in the fuge. Maybe something with my RODI filter or my buckets I'm using. Something in the water acropora cannot tolerate. Everything I'm able to measure comes back as it should and I've spared no expense on the necessary equipment. So I'm at a loss. Just have to throw in the towel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Well. Story of my life. Everything up in smoke again. These are basically all that remain. This makes me want to throw in the towel. Perhaps I'll try again one day in the future some years down the road if we move to a bigger place and I have the space for a fish room and a proper quarantine. Calcium reactor sure feeling like a needless expenditure at this point. The mother colonies of these sure are doing well. They net my buddy who owns them a couple hundred bucks a month in frags. Each are currently dinnerplate/basketball sized and growing. These are frags number 3 from those colonies I've tried. Same result every time. Look nice for a couple months. Encrust off the plugs and onto the rock, then death out of nowhere. All others gone too just removed them as they go and haven't mentioned Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
