Thanks for the tip hydro. I actually have one 90 gal and I have a wall unit nine thirty gal tanks. This an experiment.I've just noticed there's a lack of awesome live rock in this town.well until I joined arc that is. I'm building. I'm building a tank for my rock when its done cursing. Four ft by eight ft and twelve inches deep. So I thought I could make a surge tank out of this. The kids in the neighbor Hood are very excited.but I'm sure ill ne posting a out this before to long...

OK I now understand what a surge tank is.YouTube is great.what Is this really beneficial for in a reef tank? I'm starting my first reef tank all I have is live rock going for now til I figure out what's my next step. So my question is would a surge tank promote growth Of any sort?

I went to a shop @ 35 and 51st. They had some weird washing machine looking machine,with live rock in it. Is this a surge tank as well?
