I've got a pretty big emerald crab. Actually, he's something of a monster.

Incredibly bummed. Picked up some great lookingfrags from Pham yesterday....stick them in the sand last night because I didn;t have time to glue and mount them...only to wake up this morning and three of the four frags are gone. Just gone! I picked this tank apart...it's a cloudy mess from moving all of the rock and they are nowhere to be found. These are trying times boys and girls...

Was this dealt with tonight?

PM sent. What color are they? White or blue?

Wait...I was just there and you didn't mention any clownfish!?!?!?!

Well, I want to really get new rock and maybe sand. You see, the wife has authorized that purchase so I better jump on it while the jumping is good. I'm trying to figure out if this will be a good idea or not. I reckon it wouldn't hurt things too much. I'm going to cook the older rock.

This isn't diatoms but hardcore dinos.

I like the idea of no water changes

I feed my three fish so little I'm surprised no one has called the cops on me.

So, I am quite positive I have dinos in my 90 gallon. I've been fighting a bubble algae problem for quite some time and I reckon, despite my efforts, the dinos have moded in and are now able to get a foothold. I have been doing 5-10 gallon water changes every week, changing out my carbon and GFO weekly, added chaeto to the fuge, and cut my lights back to 4 hours per day. I think this has limited the spread but certainly not stopped it. I've seen some folks have raised their magnesium up and gone total darkness for three days but...would almost totally switching out the rock and perhaps sand be helpful? I've had my rock for over 7 years and it's all kinds of covered in coraline algae but perhaps it's leaching phosphates?
I had been planning on getting with Prof to get some rock and completely redoing my scape. The Mrs has just authorized this and I'm wondering if a 100% water change coupled with new rock and sand would help with the dinos.
Thanks for your thoughts...

Vinegar is just fine. I have two koralias sitting in a vinegar bath right now. Just rinse it well with water.

Just sent in a small order for $11.50. Thanks for setting this up.

A nice refugium is just as cool as a nice display IMO. Would be a great idea to do this.

do emerald crabs eat your coral and such? I've been told to stay way from crabs because they aren't reef safe and yadda yadda....
Where does bubble algae come from?
Excessive nutrients.

I am a very socialable Cajun. I always have fresh coffee and more often than not a pot of gumbo, chicken fricasse or court bouillion.
Come on down.

Goodness I am there!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I know cheato works, Brooks, but I'm just thinking of trying something different! Laingnappe...sounds scary, Patrick! I may take you up on it

Thinking of adding a macro other than chaeto to my newly set up fuge. Any thoughts? I have some LR and a DSB in it but that's about it. I have some PC lighting over it.

Thanks. I hooked them up and it's working a treat. I didn't notice the light inside the fan. Moonlights!

When connecting one computer fan to a wall wart...I just need to make sure the voltage is the same? So, a 12V fan goes with a 12V wall wart? Do I only need to be concerned about amperage when I am going to use multiple fans? I thought there were some posts explaining this somewhere but I couldn't find it. Thanks in advance...

I have the GE6500 and it's a very white light. I also have 3 anti blue plus, pure actinic, and a purple plus...very 10k'ish. I just replaced my bulbs this past weekend.

I'm looking for a 4 inch fan with plug for my canopy. Let me know what you have. Thanks.

I work in Temple, live in Round Rock. If I can help facilitate, let me know.

OK so what I did was use the gasket from the extra bulkhead on the nut side and that worked a treat. No leaks! Nice work, Bio.
T5 Ballasts
in Reef Keeping
Posted
So, I have 6 54W T5 lights over my 90 powered by an IceCap 660 and two AccuStart Triad 2x54W T5 High-Output Ballast by Universal Lighting (each powering two lights). I got the Triads last year from ReefGeek and one of them recently bit the dust. I was going to order another but thought I would check yall's thoughts on these ballasts, my plan. I know I can use the 660 to power four of them but I really did not like the lights over-driven; at least, my corals never seemed to like it.
Thanks in advance.
