  1. Like most of you I have been using a mixture of test kits and I bet like many of of you, I have never really trusted my results. At MACNA I met the owner of Aquariumwatertesting.com and decided that having my water tested in labratory conditions and with more accurate testing methods was the right thing for my tank. I'm sending them samples every Monday and have only been doing it for two weeks. For now I'm still doing my own battery of test and it has been interesting comparing the two. Here's the report from last week's test: www.aquariumwatertesting.com - .pdf They also place all the past results into colored charts which is not that interesting yet, having only completed two rounds of tests. I plan on starting a thread about it once I have a couple of months' tests completed. It costs between $24 to 42 for a single battery of tests depending on how may tests you buy up front. Of course that's really expensive when you compare it to doing the tests yourself but I'm looking at it as cheap insurance for the thousands of dollars of fish and coral I have in my tank.

Thanks! Austin aqua farms has a few. Word on the street is that the supply is drying up. So get them while u can.
  3. Wow nice herd! Welcome! MACNA was cool this year. Can't wait to go to Miami next year.
  4. IMO a making your own saltwater is the way to go. Its too critical to let someone else do it for you. This is my mixing station I've had for the past year which I like very much: I used 55 gallon containers but this setup could easily be scaled up or down depending on your needs. The only thing I've changed is I've added a second membrane to the RODI doubling capacity to 150 gallons per day and cutting the waste water in half.
  5. Really looking forward to this weekend: Private tour of Cowboys Stadium Friday afternoon, Rangers game Friday evening, MACNA all day Saturday. Finish with the Jean-Michael Cousteau banquet Saturday evening. Don't forget our own Mark Callahan (aka Mr. Saltwater Tank TV) will be speaking at noon on Saturday!
  6. I got a chance to see Brett's tank yesterday and was blown away by the color and beauty of his tank. Especially when you compare it to those April pics with all that GHA! He's got some great "so that's what it supposed to look like" colonies that I couldn't stop staring at.
  7. Another possible explanation for why the phosphate wasn't showing up on your test was that the amount of phosphate in your water was outside the range/capability of the test kit you were using. I saw this effectively demonstrated on a video on Dr. Tim's website. He shows how tests kits only work within a specific range and when a result is outside of that range it can actually read as a false "0"!!! Here's the video:
  8. I've got two 1" discs encrusted with Meteor Shower Cyphastrea. Nice bright colors. Just about the easiest going coral in my tank. Never complains always looks good. $20 ea. Sorry no holds. My mother colony: Read more about it here http://www.vividaqua...Code=05-5057-10 Richard 632-0375
  9. Build is done!!! Check out my build thread for photos. Thanks to all that have helped over the past 9 mos!

  10. Sounds good. One of the loose ones has sold. The other 3 are still available.
  11. That would be tough for me. After 5 is best.
  12. Two are on a small rock that I'm giving away. So it would be best that those two stay together.
  13. Purple under actinic. Brown under daylight.
  14. I've got a group of 4 small leathers for sale. This a pic of all four together. Two are still mounted to a rock and two are not attached anymore. $8 each or all 4 for $25. Hold only with Paypal payment. Richard 632-0375
  15. With all the equipment that I bought for my builds I have ended up with an extra Radion that I just don't need. So here it is, a brand new, unopened, in the box Ecotech Radion for $575. Because of the Ecotech's strict pricing policy there probably has never been a new Radion sold this cheap before. I've got three on my tank now and love them. Great color rendition and deep penetration. With the flexible software and the full spectrum of LED's I can make my tank green or red or have a big lighting storm or maybe just a random cloudy day. Do I do any of that? Hell no! But I sleep great knowing that I could if I wanted too. What I do enjoy is the having the tank slowly transition over a 2 hour perioed from 14K to actinic and then a 4 hour fade to moonlight before I go to bed. Everytime I look at the tank its different. Very cool. Cash is king. Sorry no holds. Richard 632-0375
  16. They do take up a lot of room and they are difficult to conceal. That's really why its sitting on my shelf. During the build of my 225 I abandoned the idea of using a wavebox and decided to see what an array of vortech's can do and have been very happy with the result.
  17. Rich, I have a 6125 wavebox sitting on the shelf if you want to borrow it to see if it works they way you want for your cube. PM me if intersted.
