We just switched to a glass tank. It hasn't been cleaned up, so it still has some of the sand in it and of course the coralina stuck to the side.

I have a used 55 gal acrylic tank (48 x 12 x 20). It isn't pretty (coralina) but someone might either clean it up or make it into a sump. No leaks or cracks.

Tank is a year old. 55 gal we do 10 gallon water changes weekly with RODI water. Running two Bio wheel filters and 3 powerheads.

We are having trouble with Brown Hairy Algae and also dark green algae. The brown hairy is on the bottom of the crushed coral substrate and the green is on the rocks.

We have used algicides, reduced the lighting to 6 hours, phosphate remover media, and Sea Hares (which we cannot keep alive for more than 2 weeks). We have lots of hermit crabs who don't seem to care about algae.

We have had our water checked and except for the occasional higher phosphates it's always perfect.

Any suggestions???? We're about ready to give up and take down our tank!

I am looking for inexpensive blue mushrooms.

We are totally frustrated with the charcoal filter we have for our 55g tank. Is there an easy to use brand? Is there an alternate system? We also are running a bio wheel.

Thanks so much. He really is an awesome crab. He is in a rather large shell now, 2 - 2 1/2 " long. (don't know how he moves that thing). I guess we'll just keep an eye on him and see if he is as well behaved as yours.

We just purchased a Blue Knee Hermit Crab and I have questions. Is a Blue Knee the same as an Electric Blue? Is it a bad choise for a reef tank that has corals, anenomes, shrimp, crabs, and assorted friendly fish? The store said they were gentle but then I started reading how destructive they are. HELP????

The pump is only a few months old. Has white, actinic, and moon lights. Stand has doors and with a shelf (excuse the stuff in there, changing tanks). Standard slide in Bio Cube filter. Room for a protein skimmer if you want (not included).
