  1. Yep, still available. I have lowered the price to 350.00 O.B.O. I need this out of my house!

Price drop to 250.00. If I cant sell it for this I am going to dry it up and store it but would rather not have to. I cannot upload pics currently but could arrange to meet to see the tank. For the dollars that I am asking I think you will not find a better package.

512-850-1267. Please leave a message and I will try to call you back as soon as I can.

  2. Hello folks, I am getting out of the hobby for a while and I need to sell my 75 gallon reef ready aquarium and some supplies. The aquarium is in good shape but has a couple of small scratches, nothing major. This tank has been drilled with a 1 1/2" bulkhead and includes the following.

    75 gallon aquarium

    WOOD stand painted black

Black custom canopy w/ led moon lighting

T5-HO lighting w/ new IceCap 660 ballast (comes with additional VHO bulbs and T5-HO bulbs)

VHO endcaps (if you wanted to go VHO)

    PVC plumbing w/ disconnects

30 gallon sump/refugium (would suggest a 29 gallon for ease of maintenence but this one works fine)

    Mag Drive 7.5 return pump

    Heater

several capped 5 gallon water jugs w/ handles (water changes!)

brand new bucket of Red Sea Coral Pro reef salt

    B-Ionic 2 part calcium/alk. system ( about .5 GALLON of each left)

    Calcium test kit

    Alk. test kit

    Refractometer

Im sure there is more that I plan to throw in but I am tired and need to go look so in addition to this Im sure there will be more surprises included. The aquarium is currently set up and is running as a freshwater planted aquarium. The gravel, plants, fish and DIY CO2 injection is included as well. If you dont want the fish and plants, please let me know so I can find them all good homes.

Asking 450.00 FIRM. Cash only, must have a way to pick up. Everything goes with the tank as price listed. Not interested in breaking up.

  5. When mine is not happy, it does not extend it's tentacles.

Leathers also withold their polyps just before shedding a layer of skin as it grows. This is sort of like growing pains in that it seems to happen at once and then it is fine afterward. If yours is doing this all the time it may be that your water params are not stable or that the leather isn't getting adequate water flow. Hope this helps.

  6. This is a natural way to propogate itself. I have a large Devils Hand leather that continuously sections itself off making frags which are easily attached to another rock. A simple rubber band will do fine for helping with attachment. After about a week, remove the rubber band (if ready it will be attached) and voila! Make sure all of your params. are in check and if possible, do small consecutive water changes to eliminate some of the funk that the leather may put out while splitting.

  7. Well, I recieved the shipment of bulbs two days ago. All of them were broken. Then I find out that the stands and end caps weren't going to be here until this coming Wednesday, then when I called to tell them about the bulbs, they said that they were in fact only 54 watt bulbs and not the advertised 85 watt bulbs. I was upset and they said that they would ship out the correct bulbs overnight and I got them today. They were still the 54 watt but were in tact. I then look on the boxes of the bulbs and find out that they are actuall 46" instead of 48" which means a lot to me because of the way my hood is designed. I am frustrated beyond belief and Foster Smith acts like it's no big deal at all. They have false advertised twice in this on order and haven't bothered to compensate for my frustration or inconvenience. What would you do?

A ) Keep the 46", deal with it and move on not dealing with Foster Smith.

B ) Hold them liable for the misrepresentation somehow. (If so, how? What would you want them to do?)

C ) Send the whole order back and never deal with them again.

I got the Aquasun bulbs and the 420nm actinics.

  8. I was planning on using the reflector that I currently use for the VHO's ( I know they dont need reflectors but I still use one) It is extremely polished and I think should work fine until I can replace the reflectors to the individual ones. Also, the bulbs that I ordered ARE 85w a piece and are NOT the 54w bulbs that seem to be standard to T5's.

  9. Time had come to place the yearly tank maintenance order through Foster Smith. With this I usually place my bulbs, RODI cartridges and addititives on order.

This time I did something a bit different for me. I ordered 2 48" 420nm T5HO (85w) and 2 48" 10k T5HO (85w). The reason this is different is because I am going to attempt to make the switch from VHO to T5HO and Im not too sure what to expect. I keep mainly LPS and softies with a Derassa clam (over a year under VHO and doing great) and my rose bubbles.

From my understanding of things, the T5HO's will be overdriven by my IceCap 660 and that the intensity of the T5HO's is greater than VHO with the understanding that I have a good reflector (which I do). That all said I am kind of re-thinking my decision on the order due to the terrible idea that I will be losing some color that the VHO's produce.

Can anyone here put my mind at ease by posting a picture of their tank run strictly on T5HO's? I would like to see what to expect before they ship them out tomorrow.

    Thank you.

  10. Britfish, it was a pleasure meeting you. Folks, Britfish actually bought the larger one for $80.00. I have the small one still available. If interested, I have it ready to go. All you need to do is call me and come get it. I would prefer it gone today.

  11. Sale pending to Britfish. If anything changes I will let you all know and reply in order received. There has been some good interest in these. I will have more coming within a few months or so and I will let people here know when they are available.

  12. I have 2 beautiful small Sherman RBTA's available for sale. The first is about 4" when open and I am asking 80.00 FIRM for it. The second is about 3" and I am asking 50.00 FIRM for it. These split often and are SUPER healthy and vibrant. These anemones are being sold on other Texas based websites for over 100.00 ea. and are almost guaranteed to split for you providing you a way to recoup your cost. Let me know if anyone wants these and I will arrange a time to meet with you.

If these dont sell within a week they are going to Dallas to sell.

  13. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/diy/3958...tal-halide.html

this is the guide i found on the subject.

thanks for pointing out the major flaw. but honestly i do believe there is always another way. trouble is just figureing it out.

I have seen MANY people become frustrated to the point of quitting the hobby due to crazy algae blooms and other related issues with set ups like this over the years. I strongly suggest you save money and buy proper and proven lighting instead of TRYING to shortcut something that has been done a million times before you...just my .02

  14. I personally LOVE coraline algae and actually in the wild, coraline is more prevelent at deeper depths due to the LACK of intense lighting and actinic spectrums along with supreme water conditions. I leave my back glass covered as well as the drain and return pipes. I DO NOT allow it to encrust onto my front or side glass and especially in the corners....YUCK!!!

Alkalinity and calcium must be right. Have you tested lately?
