  1. Thanks for the advice guys. I only go to GoP because I've also got a couple of parrots (African Grey and a Gold and Blue Macaw) so it's somewhat convenient. I definitely don't care for their SW inventory, though, and have been looking for a new LFS (preferably one down south). I went to Aquadome once a couple months ago after hearing all these great reviews about them. I was not impressed however. When I went, there were a lot of dead fish and sickly looking fish. I haven't gone back since, but I guess I could give them another shot.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm gonna check out RCA while I'm up that way.

  2. I have a 60 gallon tank, starting from scratch. I plan on doing a mixed reef with mostly LPS, shrooms, and zoas. I bought a GLO T5HO light fixture and have had nothing but problems with it, so I'm taking it back today. It is a two-light fixture and I'm pretty new to this, but my cousin said I should have at least a 4-light fixture to it would penetrate deep enough (the tank is more tall than anything).

I'm about to head allllll the way up to Gallery of Pets from my home here in Buda. This is a long trek for me and I never have the time to make it. So does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be looking for when it comes to lights? Maybe some good brands (my GLOs are a piece of junk)? Is my cousin correct when he says I need a 4-lighter?

    Thanks in advance

  3. Welcome to the addiction.

I would like to extend a personal invite to our meeting this weekend. You can meet some of your follow 'southies". . .

    Dave-

That would be cool... although it IS my wife's birthday weekend (spent her 21st in Lubbock, so I'm being forced to make it up to her haha). When and where is the meeting?

  4. Nice... gorgeous neighborhood. I have many fond memories of that place from high school parties haha. My mother would be on the flip side of 967 in Elliott Ranch. I love this area... couldn't imagine living anywhere else

  5. It's gone, but I can make lots more frags.they moderate to strong lighting.

Well the next time you frag, let me know. I'm having problems with my lights right now, but will hopefully be getting a new fixture sometime next week.

Not to discourage a sale, but you mentioned in your Welcome thread that the tank is newly set up. It might not be the best time to add SPS to it. In my limited SPS experience, they like very stable and mature water conditions. I tried adding SPS into my 75g a few months after it was set up and lost them all. Now two years down the road, added some more and they are doing great (not saying you have to wait 2 years, just some time to get your tank through the "new tank syndrome" and such).

Ahh... okay, I gotcha. I know my fish and such, but still learning about corals. Thanks for the heads up.

  6. Hey what's up everyone. My name is Caleb, I live down in Buda, and I'm 22 years old. My mom bought me a brand new 60 gallon tank and stand for a housewarming gift last month, as I've been wanting to get a saltwater tank up and running for the past year or so. It currently has nothing but water and sand in it with a cannister filter going. I'm a newbie at this, but I've done tons of research and I can't wait to get everything set up and operational.

Just thought I'd say hello and introduce myself
