I'm by no means a pro! From what I have read, 12 to 14 three watt CREE's is about the same light output as a 250watt MH. I think if you went with a little longer heat sink and the same amount of LED's you would be just fine. For your optics I think I would go with 80 degree's since your tank isn't that deep and it's wider. I don't know how long your tank is so I can't say how many fixtures I would use. Remember I'm no expert! I just spent the last year deployed in Iraq and did a lot of research and read about LED's. I still have yet to know whether I made the right choice going with LED's since My tank and lights are not finnished.

They will eat any leftover food that your fish don't eat. They are scavengers so you don't really need to target feed them.
-
I bet it's not that high. If it was it would look like it's snowing in your tank. When your calcium levels get too high it will start to percipitate.

The drivers (ELN 60-48P and ELN 60-48D) are both dimmable but you need to know what your going to dim them with. The P will take the controller Rapid LED Sells and a few reef controllers. The D will work off a potentiometer and a few other reef controllers. I got all P's on my purchase from Rapid LED but wish I would of looked into it a little more because I want to be able to dim my moon lights with a potentiometer and can't. Only the D model works with those.

I got everything from RapidLED.com. The LED's are Cree XP-E Royal Blues and XP-G Cool Whites. I bought two of their 48 LED Ultra Premium kits and eight 4.5"x9" heat sinks. I also bought two controllers from them so I can control the blues and whites separately.
-
I decided to take a little extra time and make my heat sinks. The one in the middle is what the rest look like now.
Here is a pic of the template I'm using to find my drill points. I use a center punch to mark the spots.
I know it's kinda a waste of time to shine them up that much but I think they look better now.

It was nice meeting you too! Thanks for the pump!

New! Never seen water. Asking $90

The tank is a 135RR that's six feet long. I plan on making the canopy 12-14 inches off the water but I'm making the lights adjustable so I can raise and lower them.

I have started my DIY LED fixtures and finished my first one. ONLY 7 more to go!!!
Here are some pic's of my first fixture First two pic's are of the heat sinks getting polished. Before and after.Next is of the LED's attached to heat sink.Heat sink with all LED's soldered.First fire of fixture with controller. Low and high settings.Finnished product with splash guard minus optics.

I was told there is an acrylic shop behind a fish store in Austin and I forget what fish shop the person told me. I need some acrylic weld/glue.

Coralife and LED gone.

1. 72" Coralife retro-fit fixture. 3 x 150watt MH's, 4 x 96watt PC's and 4 Moonlights. HM's and ballasts work fine. PC's bulbs work but only one of the ballasts work sometimes (I have to mess with it) so if I was going to use the fixture I would buy two new ones. All 4 Moonlights work but didn't come with a power supply (I had a extra one that I tested them with). It's all attached to a 1"x8"x6' board
2. Hang on the back Refugium. I need to clean the coraline off and will do so before selling. One light brace needs to be re-attached but it will be very easy. Asking $50
3. 48" Moonlight in a dual Coralife T-5 fixture. It's two 24" Moonlight stripps attached in the fixture with velcro. The power supply is adjustable. 24 total LED's. Asking $25

Did you get my pm???

PM'd

PM'd on Warm speed

I think it looks like a parasite of some sort to me! Maybe a anchor worm.

Tried to PM you but your box is full...Hi Mike. I was wondering if you would be willing to ship your wavebox? I am currently deployed in Iraq or I would come get it. I think my wife is tired of driving all over the place to pick things up for me or I would just send her. We live in Copperas Cove next to Fort Hood. If not that is ok because I am really wanting a MP40 but this is a good deal. I redeploy home in about a month and can't wait to get started on a new reef tank.
Thanks, Scott

I should be redeploying home in around a month! I can't wait!!! I will definitely post a build thread on this project of mine!
-
Well I hope your passed out when the doors open!!!! LOL
-
Nice build! I have one coming up when I return from deployment. I have 112 of the same LED's to attach to 8 4.25"x9" heat sinks. I'm going to put two of he heat sinks side by side and have 14 LED's on each heat sink so a total of 28 LED's per light for a total of 4 lights. 50/50 blue/white.I also have 9 more LED's (royal blue) and two 1"x36" heat sinks for moonlights. Total of 9 dimmable drivers and two LED controllers to simulate sunrise/sunset. All on a 6' 135gal rr.

Not knowing the size or brand of chiller doesn't help but I have been doing research on my Teco 1/3hp and it recommends 160-500gph. I'm going to go with a mag 3 myself.
