My thoughts exactly _Planedon... the two won't get a chance at one another until she is acclimated and thriving in my system. If I were to guess how long that might be I would think about a month. This will give the two plenty of time to get used to one another through the clear divider.
They have already noticed eachother. Actually within the first hour of adding her to the system the male was already flexing his fins I just don't know if that was a sign of "i want you, look at me" or "i want to kill you, you better swim".
From what I'm reading... the red, green and blues are all the same. It's not entirely important that I have a red x red or blue x blue, green x green etc. They are all the same with slight color variations, Synchiropus splendidus. Now if it was a target or spotted mandarin that would be a different story as those are Synchiropus picturatus.

Planedon, THANKS! She seems to be doing well. I will try and take some video of the two this weekend. The male was showing off through the clear divider while the female was trying to get to him. I think that is a good sign. But read the note below...
*NOTE: For documentation purposes I forgot to mention that after my HUGE male died (the first male in this thread that was eating frozen) I found a replacement male for the female (the first female in this thread that was also eating frozen). Well the replacement male (the 2nd and current male in this thread) killed the female. He was chasing her around and I should have separated them.
With that said, I'm a little more cautious this go-around and while they seem to like one another I'm scared of the male's aggression. Maybe the fact that the new female is so much smaller will be of a great benefit. Perhaps the female he didn't like was too close in size.
Thanks, Woods! You seem to have an eye for determining the red ones from the green/blue ones. lol, I can't seem to tell the difference. I totally did not even notice the new one was more red.
Patrick, thanks for chiming in man. I appreciate the comments. My little system is nothing of the nature and size of your massive farm. I enjoy following your updates. Mood music... I could play some k-love for them, that's pretty peaceful. I have similar results to those gators. If i remember correctly... when I was younger and listening to some heavy stuff, I was a pretty rough dude. I'm much more peaceful now after listening to k-love. lol

Still pursuing this effort.
Tonight we were blessed with a female wild caught from a friend.
Unfortunately though the little woman is half starved. I'm very disappointed that a wholesaler would ship a fish that is all bones. Fish labeled as "t/r" or "tank raised" are NOT captive bred. They are wild caught fish that are held for a short time in "growout" and then tagged with "tank raised" which most people mistake as "captive bred".
I'm very happy that we culture copepods and live rotifers as we may be able to beef her back up.
Here's a vid of her in a pod bath...
pic in the pod bath...
Her stall loaded with amphipods, isopods and copepods...
Here is the male and his stall (he is also wild caught)...
I will put them together once the female is healthy and fat and they get comfortable with one another through the clear divider.- 1

So... I ended up purchasing Allan's clownfish pair from his recent tank tear down.
A little history on this pair (skip to the vid down below if you don't care to read the story)... the female was technically the first clownfish I was able to spawn after I started bringing fish in to breed. I originally paired her up with my darwin male which was from the first pair in this thread which kicked all of this off (the female darwin died). After a couple of months I sold the female snowflake and male darwin pair to another local breeder (really I was ready to call it quits). They were hiding all the time and became aggressive, obviously signs that they were up to something but I was a NEWB... needless to say she dropped a nest the next day after I sold them. Agh!
It was a bone headed move on my part but it gave me the encouragement that I needed to keep pressing forward. Just the fact that a pair "did it", was enough for me. I also learned a little about patience.
Ok... so after that, I made that female snowflake my avatar on the forums. A few months pass and I ordered some fish for Allan, we did a couple of rounds and he ended up with the blacker ice male you see in the vid below. I had no idea that he was also the new owner of the female snowflake shortly after (the one in my avatar for the last year, lol).
Fast forward to this past week and I see Allan is selling a pair, he shoots me some pics and I almost immediately recognize the female as my old female and my avatar! lol
I'm happy...- 1
