  1. Ok so I'm full swing back into the hobby and i really want to get better at keeping Soft corals (Frogspawn, candycanes, zoas, etc...) I keep hearing about this product below... Is it worth It? Please give your advice.....

Seachem Reef Fusion Two Part System 1 & 2 Calcium and Carbonate Supplement

I have been reading up on calcium levels and ph levels etc... But I keep getting brought back to this product cause it is kind of a balance of everything a reef needs. Please let me know.

    thx

    Greg

  2. I'll be honest and say I've used products like this in the past and they work for a short term fix, but you need to identify the root cause of nitrate buildup in your tank. If you're doing regular water changes, etc., then there shouldn't really be a need for it.

Totally agree.. Water changes are the Fix all Problems solutions.... I used them in the past and yes it is a short term fix... The less that you do with your tank the better... Too many times hobbiest keep adding different cemicals to balance out something... Follow the Simple Phrase "K.I.S.S" Keep it simple stupid......

  3. I have never tested for P04 before... So I just took a water sample to Aquatek and wow

    Nitrates - 50

    Calcium - 450

    PO4 - 0

    Ammonia - 0

    Nitrite - 0

    KH - Right On.....

Now just a few more days and one more water change and my nitrates will be where I can start adding corals and fish again.

  4. Interesting results.

Priobiotics have been around for years, they are just now becoming mainstream due to marketing efforts by big companies like red sea

Im sure they have... I just have not been up w/ the times I guess.....

As far as the Phosphates... I was going off of the Color card that I got from the API test...It started at 10, cause I had a dead invert in the water for a few days... Then I did the water change and it went to around 7 based on the color card, and now it is at .10 based on the same color card. I have never really tested for Phosphates or calcium etc... Just Anomonia, Nitrates etc....

Im learning more and more each day about PH levels, Calcium level, etc....

I forgot to add that my ASM G2 skimmer has been pulling out a full canister of blacker than usual crap.....Every Day...w/ the use of this Red Sea Product....

  5. I'm speachless w/ this product.... I'm not going to Lie... I let my tank go for about 5 months b/c of my promotion at work and now that I'm settled I have got the passion again for having a saltwater aquarium. I went to Austin Aqua Dome and purchased this Red Sea Alge Mgt N03:P04-x product. It was $17.99. The instructions have me putting in 9ml's for my 75g tank. I read online that "Probiotics" is the new thing for Keeping down Nitrates and Phosphates..... Here are the Results below

    Wednesday 2/16/11:

    Nitrates - 150 (Yes I know)

    Phosphates - 10.0

I did a 50g Water change and this was the results after the water change

    Friday 2/18/11:

    Nitrates - 110

    Phosphates - 7.0

    Monday 2/21/11

    Nitrates - 70

    Phosphates - .1

I will keep you all posted about how the progress is going... But wow what a difference w/ this product.

  6. With a 75 gallon saltwater tank and a 40 gallon refugium. I decided to get a 330g water tank from craigslist. I paid $100 for the tank. Bought the salt and mixed it.

The tank is now mixing with a mag 7 on full blast. . I now can do water changes with the turn of a handle. All I need to do is hook up a pump to the spout and I never have to lift a 5 gallon bucket again.

  7. I'm using a marinelane api liquid test kit. I'm also testing my tap and the saltwater I'm putting in it. And they are 0. Ok. I will have Austin aqua dome test it tomorrow.

  8. Ok this is starting to get annoying.... I'm not going to lie... I have neglected my 75 Gallon over the past 5 months and I'm getting back into the hobby and I have Nitrate problems.... I had 120ppm when I started the testing 3 days ago.... Now I have 110ppm current today... I have removed over 45 gallons total... Why are these nitrates not going down?? I have been in the Hobby for over 6 years and saltwater for around 3..... How can I get these Nitrates down besides 30 Gallon Water changes every other day??? Me being an impatient person does not help..

    thx in advance...

  9. Yeah, I have a few Pumps that Im putting in the Tank to keep the water stirred.....I will probally put an air stone in the water to ensure it stays circulated.....

Thx for the Responses about the Salt..... There is just so many out there..... Ive been using Instant Ocean for about 3 years and was just curious...

  10. I just purchased a 330 gallon water reserve tank and Im setting it up in my garage..... I was wondering which Salt mix is the best to use out there... I have use Coralife....Instant Ocean....Marine Depot mixes... etc.... Just curious cause this 330 will supply me for 15 gallon water changes each week w/ my 75 gallon Reef.....I should have enough water for around 25 weeks or so...

Just your thoughts would be great...

    thx
