I like that idea. My only concern is that it will only work with thicker cords such as 18-12 gauge.
-
I'm surprised you're having issues with a sunlight supply fixture after only one year. Do you get a lot of salt creep above your tank?
-
That's a tough one. My concern would be water somehow following the cord down to where the two plug ends meet. My first thought would be to velcro, or in some other way fasten, the receiving end of an electric cord to the wall so that the female end is facing down. I would have the male cord coming out of the skimmer plugged into it providing a loop for any water that gets on there to drip off.

Yeah, but this is one of those nifty cone skimmers!
I've heard good things about these skimmers. I was considering it when I was looking into setting up a large frag system.

If you're dealing with a slip bulkhead, make sure you have a good end on the pvc that you cut for the overflow. Any imperfections could allow water to pass through the outside of the PVC pipe and the inside wall of the bulkhead. The leak would be slow but dangerous
What material is the overflow? could you take a picture?

I don't think you will have trouble, it is an awesome tank!
I would buy it back if I knew I would have the space for it.

UPDATE: I am including my old RO unit, replacement filters, more heaters, clampers (Don't know the real name), and fish food! (Probably worth around $200 in saving for you)

I will trade this setup for some of the items below

-Solar Panels and/or Wind Generator that would work for a sailboat (I will include cash if necessary)
-Small flat panel TV that is around 28" or less.

PRICE REDUCED $375.00 C'mon guys!! Someone's gatta want it

This is a great tank that I have had for about a year and a half. It is Starphire on three sides (the sides and the front. It is also drilled for two returns and an overflow. There is a chip that I have taken a picture of. It doesn't have any apparent effect on the structural integrity of the tank, and does not cause any leaks. The piece chipped off and I was able to glue it ba
The dimensions are 26"Long 24" Deep 22" Tall
Here is what I paid for everything:
Starphire Tank: $620
Overflow: $79
Plumbing: $30
Returns: $17
-----------------------------
$750
Here is what is included in the sale for $225:
-Three Sided Starphire Tank (I paid around 600 for it shipped to Florida)
- Glass-Holes.com Overflow (which is a $80 value)

- Around $30 worth of plumbing that has been vinegar cleaned

http://www.savko.com/partlist.asp?pgid=3&ptid=36
-Two bulkheads with return spouts (Minus the loc-line, I never used it and got rid of it a while ago)

Let me know if you're interested
Thanks,

I want this gone.

This is a great cheap setup that will make anyone looking to grow out corals very happy. It could even be a good money maker on the side!!

!!PRICED REDUCED!! (May 09 '11) $295!!!!! is for everything listed below:
-Tanks and stand What I paid for them $450 (new the tanks alone would probably cost someone ~$700)
-Bulk Reef Supply Two part ~$40
-Missing one or two of the jugs
-65% of the chemicals remaining
-Sand paid ~$90 and used 1/4 of it $67.50
-Filter socks $12
-250 gallons worth of unused Coralife salt $76.45
-Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies both purple and green ~$7.50

As you can see, I am taking a complete loss on this. I would love to keep it, but I am going to live aboard a sailboat in the Florida Keys and will not have any kind of space for something like this... I'm not in a real hurry to sell it however seeing as I have a month till I move.

Hey Jason,
I have someone interested in the 40 gallon. I will let you know if it falls through.
Do you have any interest in the 85 gallons? They are deeper and taller.
This is what I was is what I was going to do with them:

Michael,
I will take the 40g. I can find a use for it someday in the future as a frag tank. Just too good to pass up.
Thanks,
Jason

-
Yep, here she is:

Yes, you need to buy one! $140 each for the 85 gallon tanks. Someone just claimed the 40 gallon tank.
I paid $170 for each tank less than 4 months ago and I didn't even get the chance to use them!! I also spent about $60 on building the stand which you can take if you buy both tanks
C'mon, someone's gatta want the ultimate frag setup!! If it doesn't sell soon I'm going to ask the local fish stores how much they'll give me.
I'm DEFINITELY interested in one of the tanks.... just gotta convince my wife! How much?
