what work besides the foundation repair you doing?

battled mine for several months.... put a phosban 150 reactor on my setup and the used the algaefix stuff..... everything dissapeared in 1 week

Cool. I just built my mantis tank in a small biocube. What you can do is build a house for him with outlets facing upwards at about 45 degrees and bury it under sand so you won't lose any tank floor square footage with a cave. My mantis loves it.
