take what you will from this: fact, the 2 above posts state that they have lower lighting, comparatively, ie t-12's and PC's; coralline likes lower light situations
if you want coralline to grow, you simply have to have some to begin with, and wait, patience and stability are the keys
if you have coralline and do not want it, sorry, you are out of luck, you can scrape it off your tanks sides, front and back, but not off the rocks

yes ouch indeed! it turns out the fish, a pearlfish, as it is known, may even have been a parasite feeding of the actual gonads of the cucumber!!!
-
yes I too would upgrade the lighting, as well as try ti find a new home for the cowfish, they get very large indeed!

weird, I just realized now that in my post above, I just described meteorflower's avatar, lol

i say royal gramma AND a pygmy angel, maybe Centropyge argi they would both get along well with your current fish and still not add too much to your system's bioload.

That's a little TOO commensal for my comfort!
I wouldn't think too much comfort it involved at all!

So I got in some new things last night, and was packing a few cucumbers for people stopping by to get them, ...
anyhow after re-packing one certain sand-sifting cucumber (Holothuria sp.) I handed it to the customer, and noticed there was something else inside the bag, ...
I had seen something about this on National Geographic/Discovery, or somewhere, but never have I before seen it with my own eyes, ...
these fish tend to reside in the anal cavities of sand sifting cucumbers. Trust me, that fish was NOT put in that bag, only the cucumber was, lol.

Yes Ty, as the date gets closer and everyone has spoken up, I will get the order on the bulbs together and give it to Mark to distribute.

I too have tons of Caulerpa that need to be thinned. Please PM me if you want, I can ship it to you for only $5. I have C. prolifera, feather caulerpa, C. peltata, and a few others I think. Fuge is getting FULL!

Ann, YGPM.
Jeeper, sorry, I do not have those you are looking for on hand, but I will by the time Mark comes later this month. I hope that will not be a problem, ...

I am new around here, but not new to reefing. I started up my first saltwater tank back in December of 1994 and been going ever since! I once kept a C. argi, African flameback angel, and an Achilles tang together in a 20 gal high tank. I know I know, but honestly, I had the Achilles for over 3 years, until I moved down here to go to college!
I have nearly tried everything and read even more, but I will never say I know it all! I don't believe anyone does, since this hobby is so ever-changing!
I have been called arrogant about my reefing [(by a past girlfriend) HA what did she know?] but I just have lots of experience that is all I base my workings on.
I am also a sponsor on here and I take pride in my things. Meaning, I have before, and would again, turned down a sale because I thought the coral would not be a good fit for the person based on their knowledge and experience. I would never try to sell a mandarinfish to a newbie with a week-old 12 gal nano tank, lol. I have seen it done before, but not here y'all! Take a lil' pride when buying from me please!
Glad I could be here to help out and please, feel free to ask me anything and I will answer it honestly because when dealing with live animals, why lie, it will only hurt you, your tank, and the poor defenseless creatures you are trying to keep!

I would like to offer a group buy for ReefLux bulbs. A popular bulb for reefkeeping, order from us, and a 250 watt 20K SE halide bulb is only $65.
Many other bulbs are available as well; any ReefLux halide bulb, Hamilton bulbs, Geissmans, ATI, UVL, you name it, we will do what it takes to get it for you, IF we don't already have it

I know you can get away with it, as I have in the past, but it definitely adds a certain peace of mind knowing you are constantly skimming your system water to keep it clean. I subscribe to the nature that yes, a tank can be overskimmed, but it all depends on the coral you are keeping. SOfties necessarily to not NEED the pristine conditions a tankful of SPS corals would need in order to thrive. A soft coral will grow and grow and grow in just about any reef system, provided general husbandry, IMO.
