Ok so I'm still at the shop finishing putting up a box of corals Brian sent me from LA and don't know what time I'll be there in the morning. I still have a little prep work to do at the hospital and will call ya'll to find out where you are when I'm ready.

Ok we can go to Brian Jackson's in the afternoon and Dallis and Marcus's after one.
-
Brian Jackson is in, waiting to hear on Dallis and Marcus's schedule for Saturday.
-
I talked to Brian a couple of weeks ago but will call tomorrow and confirm.
-
What about Brian Jackson's tank? It would be good to cram in between your place and the office.
-
Aaron,
I think it makes sense to see the hospital tank before going into South Austin as it's on the way (51st and 35). So what is the schedule (with basic times)?

I freaking HATE spiders.
Nice to see you back Mike, your tank still doing well?

It's actually completely different than the rock in your office tank. The office tank rock was almost entirely Tonga Fusion (a mixture of branch, normal tonga fused together) and the rock in your tank is all Tonga Lalo (deepwater).
The first few batches of fusion were awesome, then they started to come in with algae and smaller and uglier pieces.
FWIW,

Agree completely, it should be 1/4" I THINK but I could be wrong (Home Depot is also my kryptonite). I'd bring the regulator with you and search for the nut.
After that, you jam the piece of tubing over the threads then screw the nut down.

That's my favorite picture EVER

I agree with James, 1-2". This allows you to gravel back the sand bed during water changes, removing any detritus and keeping the sand nice and white.

Brian submit your photo of your mystery wrasse yawning! It's my favorite picture you've ever taken!

All,
After hearing a bunch of you express interest in the ATI bubblemaster skimmers I'm putting together a group order on them. The deal is that you will have to pay tax, but if we get 6 skimmers ordered, it'll be 10% off and I'll cover the shipping. If we get 12 or more skimmers ordered, it will be 15% off and no shipping. The prices are as follows:
Bubblemaster 160: $459
Bubblemaster 200: $549
Bubblemaster 250: $769
Please post if you're interested or feel free to email me at [email protected]
Skimmers so far:
Stephen Craig: BM250
Aaron Brister: BM250

That's Richard's company, used to own Holy Mackerel maintenance in Austin. They're used to doing big jobs (ie: public aquariums) so you're probably right on about how much it's going to be.
Can you get anything from the person you got the tank from? That's a truly ridiculous thing to sell a tank that scratched up knowingly and only reveal it after you discovered it.

Found a place on the web here in Austin, Everclear Transparency Refurbishing. They are located at 10705 Spring Valley Rd.I was looking at their site. Seems pricing starts at $75 per hour which = 1 sq foot. If I did the math right it would be 18 sq ft @ $75 = $1350. I only spend $700 on all the stuff I bought. I did ask for a bid, so I'll see. Looks like it will be a lot of elbow grease!
Recommend any products?

About all I can think of you've already experienced. Try looking in the yellow pages is the only thing that comes to my mind?

Let's revive this thread and get some ideas for the next meeting.

Is the website acting weird for anyone else? I'm using Internet Explorer and it's taking forever to load and freaking out every 30 or so seconds.

Is the angel in with coral? Has he been a model citizen?
Thanks,
John
I am selling an adult Medium Imperator Angel fish. I am asking $120. I will be in Austin in the morning picking him up from the airport. If interested, give me a call at 254-371-7538. I can meet in Austin, Round Rock or Georgetown.Joe

Thanks James and Jennifer for hosting the meeting, it was a good one.
And I've sort of got a magnesium complex as well... after thinking about it, I've started to adjust up my water change water to 1400 to stop fighting a losing battle!

Mako's tank was one of mine and naka and invincible are from the same manufacturer. Email me at [email protected] and I'll get you a price for what you want.

John,My mistaken, I planning to look for custom tank, look for about 200 to 300 gallon tank. My thinking about 60 or 72 X36X24. That why I ask for name for custom for my future tank. Maybe in a year to replace my current 75 gallon. Tank of mako, naka and invincible569 really inspaired me alot!
the website you give, I like it but there are not have any 13 inches height with long length. The tank will be only corals.
-
Glasscages is pretty much going to be the cheapest custom tank you can get. All the other big name companies are going to cost 1.5-2x the cost of the glasscages tank.
Unfortunately, custom small tanks still require 2 people to put them together so the labor on a 300 gallon tank and the labor on a 30 gallon tank is the same.
If you're looking for a smaller rimless/braceless tank check out Amano Design tanks.

Also remember that the dimension listed are in centimeters, not inches.

About time you posted this

James and I just talked for over an hour and this promises to be a good presentation. James has gotten some great info (and bs) from several different supplement companies and we should hit on a lot of points.
Please come armed with some questions on both supplements and calcium reactors so that we can get a good discussion going. If we get some really good questions going (ones that no one can answer) we can post them back up here and get people on this forum posting again!

Skimmer question? What the heck?

If I remember your picture correctly the outlet pipe was huge and went several feet up further than the height of the skimmer. If the water has to travel that high to exit the skimmer, you'll not only put extreme back pressure on the pump but you'll also raise the water level internally too high and flood the cup.
Call me tomorrow James and I can walk you through gravity feeding the skimmer if you want.
