Waderaid
So I have a 20 gallon tank and I did a 50% water change except 5 gallons was RODI water. I took another 5 gallons out and put in more saltwater and then made some extra saline water and slowly got it back up to my normal specific gravity. Anything else I should do? Sascha D.
What was your sg before the water change? How much did it drop? What is your sg now?
Waderaid
1.021 was the original sg. It went down to 1.010. I got it back up in less than 10 mins to 1.21 where it is now. My candy canes shrunk up a bit but seems to br doing better now. Sent from my SM-N930P using Tapatalk
Sascha D.
There's nothing else you can do. Specific gravity of 1.009 is considered hyposalinity. Fish can generally tolerate hypo if acclimated correctly. The rapid decrease and increase often kills them, but you would have noticed by now if any fish were going to die. Some corals may close up for a few days, but most will recover. Keep an eye on your invertebrates, such as cucumbers, urchins, sea stars, and nudibranches. They don't tolerate rapid fluctuations in sg and could die without you noticing.
FarmerTy
I think you'll be fine since you caught it so fast. Like Sascha said, inverts are usually the ones that feel the hurt most rapidly with salinity changes but a quick 10-minute change may not have done any damage.
