pbnj
For those of you with 29" tall tanks (or greater), do you regret going so tall? Would you do it again? Vice-versa, does anyone with a 24" tall tank wish they would have gone taller?
reefman
If I was 6'5" or better, I might want a taller tank, but 24" is plenty deep for me. Of course, it also depends on how high up off the floor the tank sits. Mine from top rim to floor hits me just about my armpit. I would not want anything any taller. Also, a 29" or taller tank just about requires 400W lights if you want to ever be able to grow anything. Stephen
prof
I agree with reefman. Measure from your armpit to your hand and then consider how often you will need to reach the bottom of the tank. Taller tanks sure look cool but I generally prefer deeper (front to back) tanks.
+Daniel
Not sure if you're building a custom tank or not, but taller tanks require thicker glass/acrylic and consequently cost more. I like my tank's 24" height, but if I were taller, I would definitely consider a taller tank. Of course, there's also the issue of light penetration with taller tanks. renman303
It's a bit tough to reach the bottom on mine (it's 31") but I would do it again. If it were a peninsula, and/or a brick style vs my Eurobrace, that would make it much easier.
Zarathustra2
I made sure I went with a tall tank but I have a large DSB in the display so really need that extra room. That being said it also has a tall stand so I need to get on a step ladder for anything not at the top and that is a pain.
