TyLee
I have a clam with its feet attached to a rock. How do I safely remove the clam?
AndrewT
i would leave it. Or if you can chip around the rock. You can kill them if you try and remove it from the rock it attached to

GKarshens
I have heard squirting ice cold water at the foot will make them let go. Have not tried it myself.
+dapettit
I’ve used the cold water method with success. 1. Put some RO/DI water in the freezer for a couple hours. 2. Using a turkey baster slow squirt the cold water at the base of the clam 3. Gently rock the clam to loosen it from the rock. The cold water should case the foot to retract. PATIENCE is every thing. Derry
There was also an RC thread awhile back where a couple of people mentioned using a razor blade to cleanly cut through the basal strands. Might be worth researching.

Mike
I moved my Crocea a few months ago. I just waited until he was closed (lights out) and gently gripped the sides and slightly bumped it a few times until he let go on his own. moved him to a larger rock and he has had no ill affects. I asked the question on RC'S clam forum, they suggested the razor method.
