Jbrougher
Is there anyway to speed up anemone growth or budding? just wondering
Brooks
I know excluding all contact with humans is beneficial along with maintaining a stable environment. As far as chemicals go or substances go, I'm not sure of any.
+mcallahan
Growth is best achieved by keeping your water parameters stable and by feeding them. I feed mine shrimp and I've heard krill is bad for them. Give them a piece about half the size of their mouths. By budding do you mean splitting...like making baby anemones? GKarshens
Anemone guru Anthony Calfo recommends feeding them even smaller food than that. He recommends using mysis. I just use a turkey baster to shoot a few of them into the anemone about once a week.
prof
I have heard that large water changes can cause splitting. I think that it is just a matter of stressing the anemone. This will probably work half of the time but I don't like to stress my creatures if I don't have to. I think feeding and making them happy is the best way to go. caferacermike
It has been demonstrated that certain anemones can be chopped and diced with a sharp blade to create several smaller clones. It was shown at a MACNA to use a new razor blade dipped in alcohol to cut the anemone directly through the mouth up to 8 pieces, like a pizza pie. The clones will heal in due time. This can also be done with mushrooms, especially expensive ricordia. I've done this to a a bubble tip once by cutting it half and it recovered. I once had a bubble tip go through a powerhead and was cut into about 20 pieces. Within 3 weeks I noticed small marble sized anemones living all over the tank. Jbrougher
Well, I cut him in half. One half stayed put, and the other anchored itself across the aquarium. My clown keeps swimming from one to the other. I hope it or they survive
