chrisfowler99
I put on a valved splitter in the laundry room, hooked up the hose bib and hose, turned on the valve part of the way and the RO/DI started filling. Turned it up a little more and the line blew off the hose bib (taking the o-ring from the hose bib with it) Thinking maybe I should go buy a better hose bib from Home Depot that will lock the line in more solidly. I think kyle's old (and new) setup are both off of hose bibs. is it a John Guest fitting or just a hose bib that is barbed?
chrisfowler99
Closer to a John Guest fitting than anything, except it's not that either. There's no locking mechanism. It just slides in and, I guess, gets pressure fit from the o-ring, but it's certainly not a strong connection...obviously.
caferacermike
Sounds just like a John guest fitting to me. Your set up is just how I have mine. I got my connections at HDepot.

chrisfowler99
I bought a brass one at Home Depot that's working great. I pretty much figured out that I'm missing the locking end piece...No idea what happened to it. It's all working now, though. In-line dual TDS installed, reading 0 on output. chrisfowler99
I didn't measure the raw side. I'm measuring post-RO and post-DI. post-RO seems to be around
GKarshens
Really? My post RO is about 4. How long have you had your membrane? Are you on well water? Maybe your start value is much higher.

Maybe your start value is much higher. Membrane is brand new The number was still dropping...really slowly, so it could be below 16. I haven't run it for long since installing it. I'm on Georgetown utilities, and the water is really hard around here.
GKarshens
Must be. I would like to know what the TDS is straight out of the tap. I measured mine once and I think it was around 160.
Entropy
I need to pick up a TDS meter. I would be happy with 160 out of the tap. My old house in CA had 470 out of the tap.
Cool Breeze
I tested the Hardness of tap water here in gtown one day and it was a 14 right out of the faucet.
Entropy
I tested the Hardness of tap water here in gtown one day and it was a 14 right out of the faucet. Wow! That is lower than the RO output at my old house. I was averaging 19 out of the RO.

Cool Breeze
no not TDS I'm talking Calcium Hardness (*dh). The measurement in your aquarium is usually 8-12.
caferacermike
I was getting near 450 after sediment filters in Round Rock with about 16 as my total RO output on a few months old membranes.
