medi Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 all right well the tank is by no means complete, but here are a few pictures. I am still deciding how I want the LR, so for now I just laid it in the tank until I can figure out how I am going to do this, but more than likely the LR will be in some form of arch with very little making contact with the sand. I am working with some acrylic rods trying to perfect the art of bending to the shape I would like. Also I am still waiting on my 250W MH that I recently ordered. Quote
medi Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 LOL java script:add_smilie("","smid_7"), NO!!! MY TANK!!! MINE!!! MINE!!! MINE!!!! Quote
medi Posted December 16, 2008 Author Posted December 16, 2008 No, but seriously they have one at Aquatek for $700 HA. So glad I checked out RCA's sale Quote
+ACampbell Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Congrats! Do you plan to keep to glass top on? I run mine without. Looks much better. Quote
blindside Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Agreed, does look much much better with no glass top Quote
medi Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 no, top is just on because the I had just picked up the tank and thought I would leave it on for a little while. As soon as my light arrives I will be removing it Quote
medi Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 This morning I got off work and immediately began working on the aquascape. I started by scooping all of the sand out in order to effectively place the acrylic sheet. I then moved in the acrylic and replaced the sand. I then began working on the arch, which was a lot of fun seeing how there was so much sand stirred up that I couldn't see what I was doing. Well I got most of the aquascaping completed, I still need to move the remaining LR off of the sand, and give everything a good cleaning, but for the most part it is done. Also, my Aquamedic 250W MH with a 14K phoenix came in today so I hung that up. Here is a few picks of the progress, still along a way to go but it is coming along nicely. Sorry the water is still so murky I will post new pics when everything clears up. Also, the pictures are not very good and really don't do this any justice, but I will keep working on my photography and hopefully improve. Quote
+ACampbell Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Very cool. I'm jealous of your arch. Quote
mikedelgado Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 wow! I'm lovin it. How did you attach the rod to the sheet? Quote
medi Posted December 19, 2008 Author Posted December 19, 2008 Thanks for all the replies. I originally tried acrylic weld, but that wasn't working for me, so I used 5 minute epoxy. So far it seems to be holding up great Quote
medi Posted December 28, 2008 Author Posted December 28, 2008 Noticed it had been awhile since I updated my pics, so here are a few with some of the updates. I added a homemade refugium light to the back, and added chaeto with LR rubble to hopefully get some good out of the space. Also, I added the 4 fans across the top due to the high heat output of the 250W, seems to work decently well but we are definitely not in the summer yet so we shall see. I got my diatom algae bloom this morning so hopefully that will clear soon and I can start adding some better coral. I also made a bit of a compulsive buy with a snowflake eel a few days back. I have decided he is not really what I am looking for so if anyone is interested he is yours for $15 or a cool frag. I paid $30 a few days ago, so it seems like a good deal to me. Last but definitely not least I felt obligated to throw in couple pictures of my kids. Quote
