medi Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I have a JBJ 12G Nanocube, and have been looking for a decent skimmer that will fit in the back of filter compartment and still be able to close the factory lid. I was looking on nanotuners.com and came across the Sapphire Nanoskimmer NC12 that claims to do everything I want. Does anyone know anything about these skimmers, or does anyone have any suggestions for a good skimmer? Any advice is greatly appriciated Quote
mdavis735 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 i dont have any personal experience with that skimmer, but i have read really good things in other forums about them.i read that they were really good and then stopped making them for awhile and lots of people were looking for them and could not buy them.now they have started production again with a redesigned model that is supposedly many times better than the old one.i would say if it fits in your cube the way you want it is probably a decent skimmer for that size tank. medi Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 I checked out the link you sent me, and I believe they are talking about the old model sapphire. The new one is actually not even available yet, but is supposed to be sometime later this month. Supposedly, they fixed the problems they were having with the microbubbles, but you never know as these are just factory claims. Please let me know if your friend still has the Tunze as I might still be willing to go with it only because it is a proven skimmer. Thanks again for the help Quote

+ACampbell Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 I used one before in an old NC12. It worked great. Quote
medi Posted December 6, 2008 Author Posted December 6, 2008 Was it fairly easy to tune and maintain? Quote
JamesL Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I have one in my 24 gallon Aquapod and it works great. It took a little fiddling to get the exact skim-mate right, but after that it is pretty much no hassle. Just dump and clean the collection cup as needed. -James Quote
