mikedelgado Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 I hooked up a midwest auqatics sulphur denitrator 2 weeks ago to a 40 gal breeder filled with my nitrate rich (50 or so salifert) tank water. I checked the nitrates this morning and to my amazement the dam thing worked. 0 nitrates, yippee.I am now going to hook this bad boy to my 215 and hopefully this will decrease the need for as many water changes as I must now endure to keep my nitrates down.wish me luck Quote
caferacermike Posted November 28, 2008 Posted November 28, 2008 Is this a coiled up airline rig or a media type reactor? I've heard for years about folks trying all kinds of denitrators with mixed reviews. Does sound promising from what you wrote. Quote
mikedelgado Posted November 28, 2008 Author Posted November 28, 2008 Its a media type reactor. Its half filled with sulphur beads on the bottom and the other half is filled with calcium reactor media to absorb the co2 coming from the sulphers denitrification process. I couldnt believe my eyes this morning when I tested the effluent coming out of the reactor Quote
