+mcallahan Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 britfish hooked me up with some super fine sand that he had in a bucket in his garage. I put it in the aquapod I'm borrowing while I get my new tank setup and I noticed today that the sand is so fine that when my hermit crabs walk across it, it leaves tracks! Does anyone know of any drawbacks to using superfine sand as a DSB? sand pic: Quote
blindside Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I heard that sand is not that great due to the smoke like tracks it leaves behind everytime anything moves! Quote
+mcallahan Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 go bare bottom Really? The bare bottom look never appealed to me unless you had tons and tons of lR so you can't see the bottom. Are you trying to drive up sales of LR????? Quote
fishypets Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Sugar fine sand blows always blew around in my old tank causing "sand dunes" I'd be careful too with a deep sand bed, it can cause a toxin release if it's disturbed which will result in a crash. Quote
