blindside Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 He won't leave the clam alone! He stays either on it or by it at all times. He won't leave her alone, and she won't open up fully, is this normal? Quote
beefytang Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 He won't leave the clam alone! He stays either on it or by it at all times. He won't leave her alone, and she won't open up fully, is this normal? It's probably a defensive posture. I've heard of fish getting snagged by clams when they shut. I don't think the clams eat them but rather they accidentally trap fish. It happened to me once. I'm missing a finger from an overzealous clam. It grew back though. Quote
blindside Posted November 9, 2008 Author Posted November 9, 2008 Ha ha. Thanks for the answer beefytang. Should I move the clam? Quote
beefytang Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Should I move the clam? I'm no clam expert. Couldn't really advise you on what to do in this instance. I have never had the proper equipment or knowledge to keep a clam. Maybe some wise clam sage can advise. Quote
caferacermike Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I had pics up once of a panther grouper that used a huge crocea of mine as a sofa. It only took a few weeks before the clam was dead. On another note I once had a 6" green wrasse that was eating corals and nipping at my clams. I was unsure what was causing my issues until I came home one day and found the wrasse stuck halfway in a closed clam. The wrasse died. Used to have pics somewhere. Quote
+ACampbell Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I found your old thread mike. Looks like that pic was attached to our old gallery software. I will look through our backups if I remember. That was a great pic. Quote
