haze152
Can anyone tell me what this is? It looks like a sponge but I am not sure it doesn't come off easy
FarmerTy
Looks like a sponge to me. Maybe just dip it in diluted hydrogen peroxide and see if that kills it off?
ShawnM
If it's a sponge won't just open air kill it? Pick it out of the water for about a minute then put it back in.
Timfish
No, many sponge species are very tolerant of exposure to air. If you want to make sure you kill it off you'll need to dip the plug in something like Ty said. It is a species that does not like bright light but you may have an issue with your zoas also. For what it's worth it is a beneficial species so long as it's not over growing any thing you want. (I also suspect it's actual color under white light will be a soft pink or a light purple.)
