I've always had these on my rocks, but they're noticeably bigger and more numerous all of a sudden in this section of my tank. Just made me curious what they are.

My guess is a bryozoan, a simple type of filter feeder. I have them on the undersides of my rocks. If not them, then maybe a type of foraminiferan?

Thanks for the ideas, I'll look those up. They are really soft and flexible, like hairs and I don't see any kind of fan, but if it had one it would be very very tiny.

If it is a bryozoan, an emerald crab will go after them. I not even really sure my emerald crabs eat them but they definitely rip them off the rocks and attempt to shove it in their mouths.
