refugiums

I am currently running a 350 marineland filter on my 68g. I would like to get a hang on the back refugium and take off my 350. I know I will loose mechanical and some chemical filtration ( but I can put a bag of carbon in the refugium ), but the benefits of a refugium will be awesome. I was just wondering if I could only run a refugium as my filtration.

Yup, and it doesn't need to be lighted either, read up on Tyree's Zonal system he uses for his coral propagation (it's also skimmerless). And keep in mind corals are pulling ammonium, nitrate and phosphates from the water and IMO should be considered an essential part of the biofilter. Here's a video of a "fliterless" system I maintain:
