matthewleach72
I want to get rid of all the clutter on the back of my tank and was wondering what the size of a sump i would need for my 29 g. tank. Right now i have an hob filter skimmer heater power head and circulation pumps on the back and side of my tank..if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great. bigmike015
What ever will fit under your stand. A 10-20 gallon(depending on room) would prob do just fine. Im a newb, but thats my understanding.
Richard L
In my experience, you want the largest footprint that you can fit underneath to handle your current equipment and any future upgrades/add-ons. Volume is nice but most of it is wasted in a sump.

jestep
You don't need anything crazy for flow. I really like the eheim compact+ pumps which are small enough to fit into small sump spaces and have adjustable flow. I would probably go with the 2000+ throttled most of the way down, or the 1000+ all the way open. How far below the tank is your sump going to be? That will make a huge difference between rated and actual flow.
