esacjack
So I've been curing my LR for over a month now. Its taken on a lot of coralline and small critters. But I cant help but wonder, should I be curing my dry crushed coral and oyster shells as well? Should I toss my sand into a burlap sack and lay it in the LR tank for a while so that it takes on some of the critters Ive introduced into the LR vat? Also, does anyone know wher eI can find tube worms, spaghetti worms, and the tiny feather dusters? Several pieces of the rock I used to seed the LR tank have about 10 or so of the small feather dusters. Was wondering if they would multiply and start taking up residence in the new LR? KevinB
If the gravel is dry you shouldn't need to cure it, just rinse it well. There are sources to buy clean up crew detrivores online. The dusters will multiply pretty easily. I started with a dozen on one rock and they've at least tripled that over the past 9 months.
Timfish
Kevin is right but it doesn't hurt to "seed" or "cure" your sand and crushed gravel if you want. ipsf.com carries stuff like that.
